This one is by request and I also love that it was requested because I think it's really important to talk about. I'm sure at some point or another you've heard of objection handling - whether you've been told 'how to do it...', been on a call or in the DMs with someone who 'handled your objection', or maybe you've heard the stories... There's a MASSIVE difference between talking to someone about their concerns and questions and the kind of 'objection handling' that is often referred to, especially in the online industry (we'll just use this as a whole because it's not actually just business coaching but it is common there). Making someone feel guilty, dismissing the validity of their concerns - especially around money, or pretending as though everyone should just be ready to invest/pay you instantly is not ok. If you are a parent and run a business, I feel like we hear often how amazing it is that we have the flexible schedule, can pick up and drop off our kids at school, have time for the appointments and don't have to ask anyone for time off to take them... All this is true. BUT - it's also hard. And many times, this is the conversation people don't want to hear or have openly. Because it sounds like you're ungrateful for the flexibility you do get. Or if you say it's hard, then it's like - well, you could go back to a 9-5... Here's the thing, two things can and ARE true at once. I have had so many conversations with friends and clients about this. I love my business and the flexibility and all it allows it me and I would never go back to nursing... AND that doesn't negate the fact that it's also hard to do all the things I need to when my kids are home because they're off for a week or have a random day off pop up because the reality is, we still have to run the business. Maybe you can imagine it - because you could be in the same place we are. I'm joined today by my friend Em to talk all about it! How our neurodivergent brains require different systems than the typical, meant for neurotypical brains that you often come across online (and in life - let's be real), the real side of what it's like running a business with kids who are also neurodivergent, and just how life in general is different. I loved this conversation because it was a great insight into a lot of what people might not see behind the scenes and honestly, sometimes, when you're a parent with kids who are neurodivergent it can be hard.
