×Story by: Gail Nobles Intro by: Gail Nobles Photo: Wikipedia Public Domain Today we’re going to talk about the sensational duo Air Supply and their timeless hit, "Even the Nights Are Better!" Released in 1982 as part of their iconic album *Now and Forever*, this track is the embodiment of soft rock romance! Oh, you can just feel the air in the room shift when that melody kicks in! Who among us hasn’t felt that heartache? You know, the kind that leaves you questioning everything, wondering where love has gone? Well, let me tell you, that’s where Air Supply comes in—like a gentle sunrise after a long, lonely night! The song captures those deep emotions with lines that connects with anyone who’s ever been lost in the labyrinth of love. "I was the lonely one, wondering what went wrong..." Doesn’t that take you back? We’ve all been there, but then comes that moment of magic when someone special walks into your life, and suddenly—boom!—your nights just got a whole lot better! What I love about “Even the Nights Are Better” is that it’s an anthem of hope! It tells us that even when the days can be tough, having that special someone by your side can illuminate even the darkest nights. Just listen to that soaring chorus! “Even the nights are better, now that we’re here together!” Who can resist belting that out at the top of their lungs? This track was a chart-busting phenomenon, spending a glorious four weeks at the top of the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, and reaching a peak position of No. 5 on the Hot 100. That's right, folks—Air Supply was riding high with their seventh consecutive top five hit! A record for the ages! So, as you tune into YouTube tonight or any night, let “Even the Nights Are Better” sweep you off your feet! It’s a reminder that in the realm of love, the lows only make the highs feel that much sweeter. You’re listening to Multi-Tunes. I am your host, Gail Nobles…
Photo: J ay Phagan Flickr Usage: Wikipedia CC BY 2. Keyboardist: Gail Nobles Story by: Gail Nobles Hey there, rock ‘n’ roll fans! Let me take you back to the fall of 1979, a time when the air was thick with melodies and the dance floors were alive with energy! We find ourselves in the world of Dr. Hook, that charming soft rock magic, with their hit single "Better Love Next Time." Released on Capitol Records, this catchy tune is plucked right from their album *Sometimes You Win*, and boy, did it make waves! This song isn’t just another sweet serenade! It’s a heartwarming song that taps into love and loss. Our lyrical hero is reaching out to a friend who’s been hurt in the game of love. With its smooth rhythm and gentle disco vibes, it assures us that though love might have slipped through our fingers this time, there’s always a sparkle of hope waiting just around the corner. "Better Love Next Time" soared to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, occupying the scene for a solid 19 weeks! And it didn’t stop there. It climbed to the No. 3 spot on the Adult Contemporary chart! Talk about a chart topper! Across the pond, it charmed the hearts of listeners in the UK, hitting No. 8, and it made a splash in New Zealand too—landing at No. 7. The power of love and lightness of the beat brought it to the top of the charts, making it the 49th biggest American hit of 1980—a true song with catchy hooks and relatable lyrics! I’m Gail Nobles. Thank you for listening to Multi-Tunes and keep on rockin.…
Photo: Nadworks at English Wikipedia Usage: Wikipedia CC BY 3.0 Intro: Gail Nobles Story by: Gail Nobles We’re talking about a groove that’s been captivating hearts and moving feet since it’s released in 1985. I’m talking about “Something About You,” that sensational single from the iconic English jazz-funk band Level 42. This track is pure magic. Released far and wide, not just in the UK, but also hitting the airways of the US, Germany, Italy, Canada, and so many more countries. This country transcends borders. And guess what? It’s the only Level 42 song to smack right into the top 10 here in the states, reaching an impressive number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 for those glorious weeks of May 31 and June 7, 1986. What a triumph. And the excitement didn’t stop there. The track also shimmed it’s way too number six on the UK singles chart making it their second top 10 hit in their home country. Something About You didn’t capture a moment. It’s been immortalized in numerous level 42 collections. Whether you’re flipping through “Level Best,” “The Very Best of level 42,” or the “Definitive Collection,” you’ll find this sumptuous track, enticing listeners, old and new. Now let’s not forget the masterpiece of a music video that gray style screens directed by the talented Stewart Orme - who’s no stranger to creating visual magic with musicians like Phil Collins and Genesis. The video presents the shorter single version that showcases the songs undeniable charm. I’m Gail Nobles you’re listening to Multi-Tunes. The music lives on and trust me. There’s definitely something about this song “Something About You,” that makes it a classic.…

Hello! I'm Gail Nobles! Welcome to Multi-Tunes. Enjoy Yourself is a song released as a single in 1976 by the Jacksons. The song featured Michael and Jackie Jackson on lead vocals. The song peaked at number six on the US Billboard Hot 100 songs chart in 1977. On other US charts, it peaked at number two on the Hot Soul Singles chart and number 33 on the National Disco Action top 40 chart. In 1989, it became the group’s first single to be Certified Platinum by the RIAA in the US. In the 70s listening to the song, if people had any worries, it wasn't that noticeable because in those days, I saw people that indeed enjoy themselves dancing when the song first came out. You didn't hear about many club shootings in the 70s. People were too busy dancing and having fun. During the year of 1976 when the single Enjoy Yourself was released, major events include Jimmy Carter defeating incumbent president Gerald Ford in the presidential election of that year, and the Apple Computer company was founded that year by college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. 1976 was a good year for the song Enjoy Yourself. The single is credited to Philadelphia songwriters/producers Gamble and Huff. I'm Gail Nobles. Thank you for listening to Multi-Tunes.…
Intro: Gail Nobles Today on Multi-Tunes .. gonna talk about Ollie and the Nightingales - I Got A Sure Thing. Earlier in the show I talked about music in the 1960s. I mentioned the psychedelic songs, the peace songs, and love songs. Stax Records brought pSouthern soul and Memphis soul music with Ollie and the Nightingale. They released a number of singles according to Stack Records. But they're most successful was 1968’s "I Know I've Got a Sure Thing", a William Bell/Booker T. Jones composition which peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Black Singles chart. In 1969, In 1969, the group released a long-playing album, Ollie & the Nightingales; "I Got a Sure Thing" was not included because Atlantic Records retained ownership of that single and all other pre-1968 Stax material after Stax severed its distribution deal with Atlantic. Ali in the Nightingale were singing the song I've Got A Sure Thing with a lot of faith and confidence. The lead singer believe with happiness that he had a good woman. He said: I know I've got a sure thing. I’m Gail Nobles. Tune in again next time for more Multi-Tunes.…

Music Intro by: Gail Nobles Story by: Gail Nobles When I was a child, I thought country music was made by white people. But I began to notice that black people around me loved some of the country hits in the 70s. I grew up in a world where nobody called music black or white. As I got older, I learned that black people made country music too like Charley Pride and Ray Charles. Growing up, I remember hearing a country song by Glen Campbell titled Rhinestone Cowboy. As a child, I wasn't really into country music in the 70s that much. But I loved the country song Rhinestone Cowboy. Whenever they would advertise songs on television, I would always listen for Rhinestone Cowboy. They of course wouldn't play the song entirely, but when they played the country song on the radio, I knew it was Rhinestone Cowboy thanks to the advertising commercial. They played commercials for songs it seemed a million times a day. There was no way you could forget a song. Back then that was my MTV. Laugh if you want to. Things were different then. Rhinestone Cowboy was released in 1975, as the lead single and title track from his album Rhinestone Cowboy. It enjoyed huge popularity with both country and pop audiences. The single certainly got my attention. I'm Gail Nobles and you’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk.…

Today we're going to talk about the Pet Shop Boys. An English synth-pop duo formed in London in 1981. Consisting of primary vocalist Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe, they have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, and were listed as the most successful duo in UK music history in the 1999 edition of The Guinness Book of Records. Three-time Brit Award winners and six-time Grammy nominees, since 1984 they have achieved 42 top 30 singles, 22 of these being top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart, including four UK number ones: "West End Girls" (also number one on the US Billboard Hot 100), "It's a Sin", a synth-pop version of "Always on My Mind", and "Heart". They had other hit songs too. My favorite is West End Girls. The song was released twice as a single. The song's lyrics are concerned with class and the pressures of inner-city life which were inspired partly by T. S. Eliot's poem The Waste Land. It was generally well received by contemporary music critics and has been frequently cited as a highlight in the duo's career.…

Song intro by: Gail Nobles Vocals by: Gail Nobles Photos: Public Domain Wikimedia Synth chord music: Samplefocus.com Keyboard strings: Gail Nobles Let’s think back on the days of R&B when we had singers like The Dells & Pattie LaBelle singing “I LOVE YOU”. Those are the days we need to get back to. We need to talk and sing to the tunes that lead us to love. Some say R&B is gone. Well, not many singers are singing “I Love You” anymore. Love is very important. It’s the thing that God made, and he put it into the world. Some have it in the heart and some don’t. But love is what helps make this world go round. Love, affection, and kindness is what makes life worth living. It puts meaning into a song. Without it, music and life is so dead. It brings people together. It helps to bring marriage. When love is brought into music, it helps people to fall in love. What are we doing without it? Are we not living the life of love anymore? Love is the key. Without it being the true message in our songs and in our hearts, it seems we don’t know what true love is for. It seems we don’t know how to stay together. Love is a good thing. It can be a good thing in our songs. It can be a good thing to say more often. I’m Gail Nobles. You’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk.…

A Fine Mess came from 1986 album “To Be Continued” released by Motown Records’ Gordy label. Hi! I’m Gail Nobles. “The To Be Continued” album was the third and final album to feature Ali-Ollie Woodson during his first stint with the group. Woodson was best known as the lead singer of Motown act the Temptations from 1984 to 1986, and from 1988 to 1996. I loved his singing. I loved his singing on the song “A Fine Mess”. Woodson was a good actor with the Temptations in the Fine Mess Video. A Fine mess is a comedy film written and directed by Blake Edwards and Starring Ted Danson and Howie Mandel. The song, “A Fine Mess”, by the Temptations was on the film’s soundtrack. After Paul Williams, Dennis Edwards, David Ruffin, & Eddie Kendricks, Ali-Ollie Woodson was a great lead singer in my opinion. He died in Los Angeles, California on May 30, 2010. It’s a hurtful thing to see our favorite stars die so young. He died at age 58. What A Fine Mess. I miss him. You’re listening to Multi-Tunes. Tunes that talk.
