×In the heart of Australia, Uluru stands tall and proud. Many have to boast that they've seen the landmark in its full glory, and they cherish those memories. However, one mistake can cost them their happiness. While some of us innocently take memorabilia back with us after a holiday, it's probably a terrible idea to when you go to Uluru. While driving in the Dandenong Ranges one quiet night, a woman sees something out of the ordinary... and her life is subsequently changed forever. What happened on this otherwise uneventful night in August 1993? Come along and listen to Kelly Cahill's extraordinary story. (Since I had to cut a lot out of this episode due to time constraints, I'll be doing a revisit episode in the future.) In this episode, Elle yarns about two mysteries involving the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre National Park. The first involves a massive geoglyph that seemingly appeared out of nowhere, and is reminiscent of the Nazca Lines in Peru. The second mystery involves a strange occurrence in the water that is too bizarre to be explained with logic. For this yarn, Elle takes us to Humpty Doo, a small, humble town in the Northern Territory. Back in 1998, a chilling encounter with an unknown force scared the living daylights out of five housemates and a baby. Although they documented what they experienced and the news spread all throughout Australia, the nation all saw them as mere liars, thanks to the manipulative media. But only the residents of the horror house, as well as the visitors that stepped foot in it knew they weren't telling fibs... * My apologies, I’m sort of sick, so I sound different in this episode… but I didn’t want to delay the episode even further! And I’ll 100% re-record this in the future because my editing was sloppy and I don’t really like how I sound here* When we think of ghost ships, we think of famous cases such as the Mary Celeste, sailing the seas with nobody on deck. For this yarn, Elle talks about 4 modern cases of ghost ships that have been found drifting aimlessly on our shores. In this yarn, Elle talks about a frightening experience she had when she was a child. Even to this day, she’s not too sure how to explain the encounter, and if her mind was even sound at the time, or if something paranormal really happened. Not to mention, multiple people have described experiencing a very similar, creepy thing… Intro and closing music: There is Something you should know by CO.Ag Music, Long Note 1 by Kevin Macleod @ incompetech.com Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Background music: Fantastic dim bar, Unseen presence by Kevin Macleod. In Melbourne's Princess Theatre, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera had been on the stage in the 90s. As we know, the plot revolves around an opera theatre that is supposedly haunted by a phantom. However, the Princess Theatre itself is home to a literal phantom, and one that just so happened to sing opera prior to his death. A special episode in which Elle shares a few eerie pieces of Australian literature. It is headlined by a poem called The Ghost at the Second Bridge by Henry Lawson. Next up is an unsettling story set in the Australian desert by Ernest Favenc called A Haunt of Jinkarras . Lastly, a short but sentimental poem called The Curlew Cried by Oodgeroo Noonuccal (Kathy Walker). Late, I know, but enjoy before the Christmas panic sets in ;).
