In this HWM Podcast, speaks to Harlem political leader, legend and trailblazer Inez Dickens, the podcast is joined by co-host Glenn Hunter, Harlem Cultural Archives with podcast host Danny Tisdale. The podcast was inspired by an interview with Inez Dickens and Glenn Hunter they completed earlier in April 2025. Inez E. Dickens is a Harlem elected who served as a New York State Assembly member from 2017 to 2025, representing the 70th district. Previously, Dickens was a New York City Council member from 2006 to 2016, representing the 9th district. Her political career also includes roles as Deputy Majority Whip and Majority Whip. Co-hosted by Harlem historian Glenn Hunter, Harlem Cultural Archives, Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director. Other co-founders Ken Sargeant and Keith Hunter. Glenn is a career educator who specializes in math and information technology. And an Adjunct Lecturer at Baruch College and a tireless community organizer devoted to Harlem. In this unique podcast HWM Podcast host Danny Tisdale , took it upon himself in this self interview podcast regarding his experience in a healthcare scare over the last few weeks. He especially wanted to create this podcast for his male listeners who are like him and have never thought he would need a prostate check and not get a full physical since the magazine was created in 2003. Tisdale was asked why he created this kind of self-interview podcast. He is the inaugural Cannabis Business Account Executive at NYC's Department of Small Business Services, servicing Upper Manhattan out of his office at Harlem Commonwealth Council. As a technical assistance provider from the NY State Office of Cannabis Management, his role is to aid entrepreneurs with insights on how to become a licensed entity in NY's Recreational & Medicinal Cannabis Markets. Prior to his work at Harlem Commonwealth, Jo spent over a decade in education, as well as some time in market research, and advertising. He is the owner of his own creative & media agencies (Exit 18 Creative & Exit 18 Media) and a proud dad to a middle schooler and infant --- and yes he used to work in advertising before starting his shop. Prior to joining the HBA, he was the Director of Small Business Development at the Abyssinian Development Corporation (ADC). In that role, he managed the implementation of the Avenue NYC Program which spurred public and private investment to the Abyssinian Neighborhood commercial corridors. He also oversaw the ADC Small Business Development Center and all related small business technical assistance activities. Lawrence's wide-ranging career history has also included being the Director of Programs at the North Carolina Assn. of Community Development Corporations and the Director for Economic Development for the City of Newark. Brooklyn Borough President and Harlem fave Eric Adams talks with host Danny Tisdale , on The Danny Tisdale Show . Trailblazer Eric Adams was a Democratic State Senator in the New York Senate. In 2013, Adams was elected Brooklyn Borough President, the first African-American to hold the position. Prior to his service in government, Adams served as a police officer in the New York City Police Department (NYPD) for 22 years. Adams graduated from the New York City Police Academy in 1984 as the highest-ranked student of his class. While serving, he co-founded 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, an advocacy group for black police officers, and often spoke out against police brutality. During the 1990s Adams served as president of the Grand Council of Guardians. In March 2016, Adams was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Within a month, he switched to a vegan, whole food diet that cut out all animal products as well as sugar, salt, oil and processed starches. He also began exercising regularly, including using an exercise bike and treadmill in his office. As a result, within six months he had dropped 30 pounds and no longer required treatment for diabetes.
