We’ve turned intuition into a buzzword—flattened it into a slogan, a gut feeling, or a vague whisper we don’t always know how to hear. But what if intuition is so much more? What if it's one of the most powerful tools we have—and we’ve just forgotten how to use it? In this episode, I’m joined by Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir , Icelandic thought leader, filmmaker, and author of InnSæi: Icelandic Wisdom for Turbulent Times . Hrund has spent over 20 years studying and teaching the science and art of intuition through her TED Talk, Netflix documentary (InnSæi: The Power of Intuition), and global work on leadership, innovation, and inner knowing. Together, we explore what intuition really is (hint: not woo-woo), how to cultivate it in a culture obsessed with logic and overthinking, and why your ability to listen to yourself might be the most essential skill you can develop. In This Episode, We Cover: ✅ Why we’ve misunderstood intuition—and how to reclaim it ✅ Practical ways to strengthen your intuitive muscle ✅ What Icelandic wisdom teaches us about inner knowing ✅ How to use intuition during uncertainty and decision-making ✅ Why trusting yourself is an act of rebellion (and power) Intuition isn’t magic—it’s a deep, internal guidance system that already exists inside you. The question is: are you listening? S2Ep7: Sometimes I amazed at how without even trying the topics that we discuss on MProper Mimi in one way or another often seem to intersect. This reminds me of a quote by Audre Lorde - "There is no such thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives." Looking at the issues we have talked about with our Mproper Mimi guests as Black and Latinx women and people we can see how one issue overlaps with another. So while it is a short episode today, join host Mimi Jacks as she talks about why each of these issues are important and why she is passionate about them. I never really knew any Black Women Veterans that could tell me about their experience and time in the military. Shoot...I didn't even really understand the renewing or contracts and retention! So as usual, my network of friends and organizations came through and voilà, we have an MPressive MProper Mimi episode on Black Women in the military. MProper Mimi sits down to chat with writer and educator Yolande Jackson about the benefits to taking time out to write down your feelings and new ways to express yourself. I don't want you to think that Mimi pairs wine with all of her activities! Episode 15: Ah the world of wine is so vast! For many of us, when it comes to buying a bottle of wine, it's hit or miss and we might purchase based on the pretty label or a recommendation from someone else. MProper Mimi teamed up with Chef Keesha O'Galdez, founder and owner of The Gourmet Diva Inc. from our very first episode and Sommelier and wine educator Lea Faith Williams, founder of Let's Talk Wine to host a virtual wine tasting. Our ladies extraordinaire walked us through the process of how to pair and taste wine and find what we like about the wine we are drinking! We focused on women in wine, particularly Black women in the wine industry for our wine recommendations. What we found was that it was difficult for some people to find wine in their local stores from the following Black owned wineries and winemakers: Brown Estate, McBride Sisters, Theopolis Vineyards, Stuyvesant Champagne and Aslina Wines. Whether it's due to demographics or distribution, you can ask your local store to order these and other Black owned wines for your tasting pleasure or go right to the source and order direct! We invited Paula Harrell, from P. Harrell Wines to join us afterwards for an intimate conversation about Black Women in wine and what some of their experiences have been in the wine industry. Mimi talked with Lea, Keesha and Paula about what first sparked their interest in wine, to various challenges and accomplishments they have achieved. We hope this episode helps to open the world of wine to women and empower them to identify what they like to drink and why. As always, we want to encourage supporting Black businesses and women in business as well. Listen and share MProper Mimi with other Black women and anyone who is passionate about conversations that empower women everywhere! Email Mimi with questions or comments!
