Episode 51 – Beyond Burnout: Rewriting Success in Events, Travel, and Hospitality with Mike Messeroff The events, travel, and hospitality industries are built on curating joy for others—but what happens when the professionals behind the experiences run out of joy themselves? In this episode, we sit down with Mike Messeroff, a former JetBlue leader turned transformational coach, who has walked away from corporate perks and global adventures only to discover the real key to thriving: presence, clarity, and self-hospitality. From managing partnerships at JetBlue Vacations to pouring cocktails in Breckenridge, Mike’s career journey reveals the hidden cost of “selling fun” while quietly burning out. Today, he helps executives, event planners, and hospitality leaders rewrite the script by treating themselves like their most honored guests. We explore: Why burnout is baked into the “programming” of events and hospitality professionals How mindfulness and micro-moments of presence can transform leadership on high-stress event days The difference between chasing fun and finding freedom in your career Why self-hospitality isn’t fluff—it’s the foundation for long-term success If you’ve ever wondered why the perks of the job don’t always equal fulfillment, or how to recalibrate without walking away from the industry you love, this conversation offers a practical blueprint for change. HOW TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE IN 2020 In this episode, Alex J. Martin takes the podcast in a different direction and shows you how to be more productive in 2020. All of this information comes from experience and research from books that he has read. He prefaces the episode by telling you to put you first. Nobody is going to go harder for you than you. Trust your process. If you don't know you then people will tell you who you are. Here are the steps to being more productive in 2020 1. Know what you want and when you want it done. Be strategic and have a system in place. You are more likely to achieve your goals when you write them down. 2. Get rid of all the toxic stuff. Anything that distracts you is toxic. That can be from that relationship to any bad habit that consumes you. Stay focused. 3. Tackle your ideas and plans immediately. Waste no time getting things done. Don't procrastinate. Don't wait. There is no better time than now to get things done. Also, separate being busy from being productive. Productivity is producing results. So produce results. 4. Don't work average hours. The average American works 44 hours a week. How many hours are you working? Elon Musk recommends that you work 80-100, but do what is right for you and don't be average. Follow Alex J. On this episode of The Content Creator Alex Martin shows you how to get more followers on Instagram in 2020. If you are like me, you are planning to make 2020 a big year and have an even better decade. With social media becoming the main source of media, I want to make sure that you go into 2020 prepared. I am going to show you have to grow your following organically on Instagram in 2020. 1. Be Strategic, Creative, and Consistent Strategize. The best in every field has a strategy in place to help them hit their goals. You’ll need a social media strategy. A social media strategy will help you hit your target. Set aside 2–3 hours every week to plan your content. I promise you that it is worth it. It’s okay to post in the moment, but it is better to have a well thought out post. Be consistently creative. You can grow your following if you dare be consistent and creative at the same time. The issue with a lot of creatives & marketers, including myself, is that we are not consistent enough. 2. Research The Best Research the best in your industry and those who are doing what you want to do. Make sure that they have the type of following & engagement that you want. 3. Use The Right Hashtags Recently, I read a study that showed that post with no more than 5 hashtags performs better than any post with five or more hashtags. Make sure that all hashtags are relevant to your post, or else you post will be reported for the wrong use of a hashtag. 4. Know Your Audience and Analytics Use your analytics to the best of your ability. Know what your audience likes, what time they like to be on Instagram, and what type of post that they like. Knowing all of this information will help you post the right content that will increase your reach and engagement. 5. Use Geotags Check-in! People want to know where you are at. Posts with check-in get more engagement than posts without a location. Let people know where you are at. 6. Be You You are unique. You are creative. 7. Make Your Bio and Highlights Entertaining Give people an expectation of what to receive when they come to your page. Keep it short, simple, and entertaining. New followers love to be entertained and getting to know you. 8. Use All Of The Features Use every feature that Instagram has if you can. 9. Create Engaging Content Back then, likes was a priority. Now it is time spent on posts, comments, shares, and bookmarks. 10. Engage With Your Audience We all know that one guy that wants to be anti-social on social media after they post. Don’t be that guy. Respond to comments and messages, even if they are negative. Be social. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/iamalexjmartin/support…
