In this episode of the Ballet Reality Podcast we discuss teaching! Teaching may sound like some rudimentary way of. passing along traditional knowledge in the world but it way more valuable then what meets the eye. Our world is ran on teachers’ willingness to pass along information that may not be available by other avenues. As classical ballet students, fundamental steps are absorbed first then skills, and after that it is up to creativity of the dancer to apply their own artistic within the mist of their career as professionals. If this is what teaching was all about then we could have just learned classical ballet on YouTube, but it’s not. The teaching is made special when we absorb not only the information of what is objectively being told to us, but also when we take in the inflections of the voice and the examples made of how to go about certain things and how and why we shouldn’t go about certain things. These values in teaching are invaluable in the sense that no matter how much money we pay for the teaching, it is way more valuable then any price we could possibly put on the lessons. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lelan/support…

Writing a book can give rise to many different avenues in a dancers career. This opens opurtunitues up to teaching, public speaking, making a record of a choreographer’s methodology, and writing more books for different publisher. The stage presence is just as, if not, more important than the other two parts of performance preparation that makes the dance presentation more of an unforgettable experience to the audience. Taking care of the body comes first. Developing the character role is a crucial part for acting success on stage. Lastly stage presence amplifies the quality of dancing on stage. Stage presence isn’t a quality that is taught or practiced, it is part of a performer naturally, and it is up to the dancer to draw it out of themselves for the audience to enjoy and for themselves to indulge in as well ;)! Thank you for listening to my three part series of episode 10 of ballet reality.
