With my guests, Camila and Pete, we explore the differences and similarities between RPG and LARP. We also discuss various PRG and LARP experiences we have had and how they color our views a bit.
This Episode will look at Player Agency in LARP. Player Agency is how much control a player has over what their character does, or doesn’t do in a LARP. Some LARP give you near total agency over your character, while others are more linear and restrict what a player can do in the opposite direction.
This Episode will look at Historical LARP. These are LARP which either have a historical theme or look to recreate a historical event, such as The Field of the Cloth of Gold. For those unfamiliar, the Field of the Cloth of Gold was a meeting between Henry VIII of England and Francis I of France in 1520. It was a meeting where each King tried to show who was the bigger man and the oneupmanship was a constant through the event. This was recreated in a LARP called The Meeting of the Monarchs and we are fortunate to have one of the developers with us on this show…
In this Episode, my guests and I explore Disney's Galactic Starcruiser, and how it is LARP done on a completely different scale. The experience is one that we all enjoyed, and we have kept this discussion as spoiler free as possible.
This Episode will look at the Otherworld Theater Company and we will talk to their Artistic Director, Tiffany Keane Schaefer. Specifically, we will explore the Otherworld Theater Company’s relation to LARP. The Otherworld Theater Company is a LARP Company based out of Chicago, Illinois which is composed of both the Otherworld Theater Company and Moonrise LARP. This group runs Blockbuster style, high immersion, high roleplay, and light combat LARP with Chronicles of the Realm being their flagship LARP. Additionally, they run the Albion School of Sorcery LARP. They began, originally, through the Otherworld Theater Company, running an immersive show called Gondark, and from what they learned through that they then began with Chronicles of the Realm as their first LARP. As this grew, they merged the Otherworld Theater Company and Moonrise LARP into one company, and that brings us to today when we will learn more about this group from their Artistic Director, Tiffany Keane Schaefer.…
This Episode will look at the Logitudinal or Sequential LARP. Specifically, we will explore both the player experience, and how game designers plan for LARP that run in a Logitudinal or Sequential method. As a warning, this Episode contains explicit language, so if that is not your cup of tea, then perhaps you may wish to skip this Episode. Logitudinal or Sequential LARP are games where each successive game plays on the one before it. This primarily a plot line that goes from one to the next, so that each game pulls from the one before it. You do not always need to play in the previous game to play in the current one, although it usually helps to know what happened, especially if your character was there.…
In this episode we will discuss the use of Props in LARP by Players and how various props can affect or detract from a game. As always I have some guests with me to go over the topic.
Join me and my guests as we discuss Characters from the perspective of players, and some from the perspective of LARP designers. We will look into what makes a good character, and how playes make them their own.

In this episode we discuss how COVID has effected LARP and our hopes for how LARP will be in the post-COVID world. Three guests help me in going over this topic and discuss our thoughts, ideas, and feelings surrounding this topic. Again, thanks to Feedspot, which is a blogging site for including From Adventurer to Innkeeper as one of the Top 5 LARP Podcasts. Their list is a good one, and I can recommend all the Podcasts on it, with of course a major bias toward this one which came in at number 4 originally, and has since moved into the number 2 spot! Their website is blog.feedspot.com and the Top Five List can be found at blog.feedspot.com/larp_podcasts/…
