Inspired by watching Chris spend hours looking for a movie to watch, Pam bought the book 1001 MOVIES YOU MUST SEE BEFORE YOU DIE (ed. Steven Schneider). From that book, they created their Movie Bucket List. Now their date-night-in is spent watching a movie from that list and bringing their thoughts to you: plot, characters, actors, favorite quotes, historical background, film theory, literary elements, or sometimes just the parts they like best. Most importantly, they discuss whether the movie should be included in the book (and your movie bucket list!) At the end of every episode, they reveal the next movie so that you, too, can finish your own movie bucket list (or at least just watch the movie first since they will discuss spoilers!) We've hit movie #40 out of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we are discussing Paul Thomas Anderson's 2007 film. Daniel Day Lewis plays an ruthless oil man, and our anti-hero, in this amazing film.
Our first black and white movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we are talking about the 1957 movie 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda. From IMDB: A jury holdout attempts to prevent a miscarriage of justice by forcing his colleagues to reconsider the evidence. Follow us on social media @themblpodcast.…
It is a double episode this week! We decided that we couldn't split Alien and Aliens , so we watched them back to back. Both movies are included in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die , so we decided to do a double episode and cover them both! Find out which version we liked best and stay to the end to find out the next movie!! Follow us on all social media @themblpodcast.…
ADRIAN!!! ADRIAN!!! 40+ years later, and people are still running up Rocky's steps in Philly and yelling out his girlfriend's name. Rocky (1976) is the next movie in our quest to watch all 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This isn't just some dumb sports movie; it's a love story.
It is time for a new edition of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. The 2020 Edition has been released, and we discuss the movies that have been added and the ones removed to make room for them.
It's our HALLOWEEN EPISODE! Who you gonna call?? Ghostbusters!! So many wonderful things to celebrate at The Movie Bucket List Podcast. Our Halloween Episode covers Ghostbusters (1984). So enjoy our season finale and hope to "see" you again for Season 2!! They're heeeeeeere! We are celebrating the month of October by covering horror/ghost movies! The first one up is Poltergeist from 1982. This movie was so scary when we were younger, but does it hold up after all these years? This is our 34th movie out of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. Bueller, Bueller, Bueller...We have reached #33 in our quest to watch the movies listed in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week we had the luck of picking Ferris Bueller's Day Off written and directed by John Hughes. Being a couple of Gen Xers, we completely love and totally relate to this movie (and basically all John Hughes movies). Make sure to listen to the end to find out our next movie. Since we have moved into October, we are going HALLOWEEN THEMED!! Find out what our next movie is at the end of the podcast. Follow us on social media @themblpodcast and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE…
We continue our quest to watch all 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we randomly selected our 32nd movie, Robert Altman's The Player (1992). The Player has the distinction of having the most Oscar winners in one film: 12 actors/actresses and 1 producer/director. Does the star power overshadow the plot? Can the acting help the self-important writing? Can Pam figure out why exactly this movie won so many awards? Feel free to tell us what we are missing! Find us on social media @themblpodcast.…
We are discussing the amazing PTA (Paul Thomas Anderson) and his movie Boogie Nights . While all our episodes are marked explicit, this one is definitely NSFW. Boogie Nights follows porn star, Dirk Diggler, as he navigates through the world of porn and his place in it. This episode is a tad bit longer than usual, but it's hard to fit in all the goodness of a PTA film in one hour! This is number 31 out of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.…
Our next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is Black Panther . Between us watching the movie and recording this podcast, Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) passed away after a 4 year battle with colon cancer. We love this movie, so hopefully we can show him some posthumous love to the character that he gave life to. Wakanda Forever!…
Our next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! This one is a bit different for us since it is a more plot-driven movie rather than the character-driven ones we have been discussing recently; this one is all fun! If you are following along with your own movie Bucket List, we are on number 29. Listen to the end to find out which movie is number 30. Follow us on all social media @themblpodcast…
Chris and Pam discuss the next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die . This week's randomly selected movie is Muriel's Wedding. This 1994 Australian movie might seem frivolous on the surface, but it is a movie very layered in emotions and lessons. Muriel is from the small (fictional) town of Porpoise Spit and must learn some valuable lessons about what it means to value yourself. Spoilers are discussed, so watch the movie first if those things matter to you!…
Chris and Pam are watching all the movies in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week is #27 - Do The Right Thing written and produced by Spike Lee. If you have not seen this movie or you haven't seen it in the last 2 years, you must watch it. This is a classic example of Life imitating Art. Chris and Pam not only discuss the movie this week, but they do discuss the Black Lives Matter movement and some of the injustices that Black Americans face daily. This episode is unapologetically political. Follow us on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram- @themblpodcast…
