Harness is back! Welcome to isolation... we are exploring how people are harnessing this unique time of COVID-19 and whether (or not) they are coping. This week we continue our discussions around BLM with particular focus on Pride and Trans issues. We have the pleasure of interviewing Romy and Iona from Sage Flowers in South London. Romy and Iona are small business owners who are making a big difference when it comes to matters of inclusion and diversity within the British flower world. The traditional art of floristry in the UK, is typically associated with whiteness and elitism. Romy and Iona have taken many impressive measures to challenge the status quo and hold themselves and others accountable. Please follow their creative work and activism via their instagram page @sage.flowers You can also find them through their website www.sageflowers.co.uk where (if you are UK based) you can order their gorgeous arrangements. If you want to get in touch, please email us at projectharness@gmail.com, feel free to send over a voice note with how you are passing the time (a template for this is available on our Instagram if you are stuck). As two white women, we acknowledge our responsibility to keep the conversation about anti-racist activism and white supremacy continuing past its most recent iteration in the wake of George Floyd's death. We unreservedly and wholeheartedly support #blacklivesmatter. In this episode we discuss our responses, pledge our support and acknowledge our culpability. None of what we discuss is remotely new or revolutionary. Nonetheless, we wanted to make our position clear. As we mention in this episode, if you are Black or a Person of Colour thinking about starting your own podcast, we are offering free technical support and production advice. If you are Black or a POC and would like space on our platform right now, our virtual doors are open. Please do not hesitate to get in touch at projectharness@gmail.com…

Harness is back! Welcome to isolation... we are exploring how people are harnessing this unique time of COVID-19 and whether (or not) they are coping. We were challenged by Sonya Ryan (our favourite person) and the Carly Ryan Foundation to share a ‘Coronapiphany,’ namely an epiphany we have had in lockdown. We skip our news segment to bring you our coronapiphanies but you will still hear from our listeners about how they’ve been coping! In this episode we chat to Deeba Syed, an employment lawyer and political activist based in the UK. Deeba works alongside Rights of Women and runs their free advice line for women sexually harassed at work. Her work is incredibly vital and we wanted her perspective on how lockdown has affected victims of domestic abuse and those who have been harassed in the workplace. Harness is back! Welcome to isolation... we are exploring how people are harnessing this unique time of COVID-19 and whether (or not) they are coping. For today's episode: we chat news (sort of), hear from our lovely listeners (including Daisy's mum!) and discuss isolation with junior doctor Radhika (AKA @veggierad on Instagram). It was such a treat to chat to Radhika, she gave us a comforting perspective on how hospitals in the UK are coping right now. She explains to us how she sees work as part of her self care and how it was to have coronavirus herself! We think Radhika's insight is invaluable at the moment and we suggest following her on Instagram to keep up to date. Harness is back! Welcome to isolation... we are exploring how people are harnessing this unique time of COVID-19 and whether (or not) they are coping. In this episode, we've skipped our usual news and voice note segments to get straight into a story. This story is about our dear friend Nathan Whitebrook and his complicated journey with his health and lockdown. Nathan has already been through a lock down of sorts. At 22 he was hospitalised for 2 months. He faced death, and had to deal with a string of medical issues as a result. He has a lot of wisdom about how to survive (and thrive) in times of isolation and loneliness. He’s also the sweetest human in the planet and we are beyond grateful for him sharing his story. Our third and final bonus episode features the incredible writer Clementine Ford, recorded in October 2019. This was the second time we got the chance to interview Clementine, this was such a treat because we could delve into all of the topics that we missed out on last time! Our chat ranges from porn to Justin Trudeau and back round to her impeccable latest work Boys Will Be Boys. Clementine’s boldness and passion makes her an outspoken figure in Australia, and damn, we admire everything she does. A little warning, we do discuss sexual assault throughout this episode, so if you’d rather skip this one, we’ll catch you next time! Boys Will Be Boys is available to purchase NOW! We strongly recommend giving it a read.
