Marcia Clark, best known as the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial, has become a trailblazer for women in law and beyond. Her journey from courtroom to bestselling author reflects her resilience and determination to redefine herself amidst intense public scrutiny. On this episode of Worth Knowing, Clark dives into her latest book, *Trial by Ambush*, which examines the 1953 Barbara Graham case—a story that highlights gender bias, media sensationalism, and the notion that all cases are subject to societal, cultural, and political winds. Clark shares how her experiences during the Simpson trial shaped her perspective on societal pressures and the role of women in high-stakes professions. Her reflections on how media, forensic science, and legal practices have evolved over decades offer valuable insights into the intersection of law and culture. This conversation is a compelling exploration of true crime, personal growth, and how Clark’s groundbreaking career continues to inspire a new generation of women to challenge norms and forge their own paths. Marcia Clark is a bestselling author and a criminal lawyer who began her career in law as a criminal defense attorney and went on to become a prosecutor in the L.A. District Attorney's Office in 1981. She spent ten years in the Special Trials Unit, where she handled a number of high-profile cases, including the prosecution of stalker/murderer Robert Bardo, whose conviction for the murder of actress Rebecca Schaeffer resulted in legislation that offered victims better protection from stalkers as well as increased punishment for the offenders. She was lead prosecutor for the O.J. Simpson murder trial. In May of 1997 her book on the Simpson case, "Without a Doubt," was published and reached #1 on the New York Times, Wall St. Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and Publishers Weekly bestsellers lists. In February 2016, Clark re-released the book with a new foreword. Robbie Rozelle is a beloved cabaret artist, director, producer, housewives aficionado, and my friend. He identifies as a Charles Nelson Reilly with a Paul Lynde Rising. And guess what?! We're going back to basics! Robbie joins me in person, in my living room, and we talk about his Hamilton experience as well as pretty much everything else. As a kid, Robbie fell in love with classic movie musicals (The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, Annie (1982 ONLY), Bye Bye Birdie, Damn Yankees) and became transfixed. By the time he was cast as Scarecrow his freshman year of high school he knew he was going to be a performer. As a young gay kid in the middle of the AIDS crisis, Robbie found hope, joy, and a sense of belonging in theatre, which is why he's made it his life goal to preserve musicals through producing cast and artist albums. This week, Robbie talks about his journey to New York City by way of upstate New York with a quick stop in Pennsylvania, how he became the Creative Director of Playbill, his transition to Center Stage Records, and how wise words from Jan Maxwell led to his "second life" as a cabaret icon. Vanessa Magula wraps up her episodes by taking questions from the Patreon Peeps! This week, she talks about her connection to all three Schuyler sisters including having such a soft spot for Eliza and why performing Satisfied is like playing Hamlet. From owning the room as Angelica, to accessing love through Eliza, and slayingggg that red dress as Maria, Vanessa absolutely LOVES being a standby. Vanessa also talks about her amazing husband Andrew, her newfound love of handbags and their trends, more NYC improv stories (Shitzprobe and Story Pirates), we once again bring it back to Warriors, and we beg the question IS IT TIME FOR AN IN THE HEIGHTS REVIVAL YET OR WHAT?! In her second episode, Vanessa Magula talks about what it was like to join the Philip tour as a Hamilton superfan, including learning harmonies she didn't know existed and doing her best *not* to sing Burr's part in Non-Stop. But now she's in Hamilton and as a friend told Vanessa: time to dream a new dream. She booked her dream job, and now she's gotta figure out how to live it in a healthy and fulfilling way. From imposter syndrome, to having to learn the show, to giving herself grace, and the added stress of coming out of lockdown? Yeah, there was a lot to navigate. Vanessa's episodes are total lovefests, but that doesn't mean we can't pay tribute to the biggest hater of them all: Kendrick Lamar. And we do! Oh, and quick reminder that you can be a hater without being a bully. FYI. Mermaid (Brittany Campbell and Candace Quarrels have a band! Get into it!) Vanessa Magula went from being a Hamilton superfan studying pre-health at UCLA to being cast as the standby for all three Schuyler sisters on the Philip tour. No, for real. Vanessa has always been a self-described theatre kid, evidenced by the fact that Deaf West's Spring Awakening is what inspired her to minor in Disability Studies, but it took her a while to take the leap and be a full time performer. After going to an open call for Hamilton in 2016 and being given a literal golden ticket for a callback, everything changed as Vanessa realized that - whether she booked Hamilton or not - this is what she wanted to do. In between yearly Hamilton auditions, Vanessa thrived in the New York City improv comedy scene and even ended up collecting Yondr pouches during Freestyle Love Supreme's Broadway run. Come join our instant bff vibes as we talk about our love of Hamilton (Vanessa saw it in September of 2015 hello!), Anessa Folds, Utkarsh Ambudkar (UTK), Lin's Warriors, and tons of other stuff. In their third episode, Paul Louis Lessard reflects on their one year anniversary playing King George III on Hamilton's Philip Tour. Booking the show was a surreal experience, but Paul is having the time of his life and has never felt more beautiful than when he's wearing those *perfectly tailored* KG3 costumes. Paul also opens up about the unnecessary shame around vocal injuries and explains that has "vocal athletes", acknowledging issues and taking care of your voice is all part of the gig. Plus, while answering questions from the Patreon Peeps, Paul discusses the value of barbershop quartets, his time making Rent quizzes online in high school (hi Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega!), how his King George channels the Queen of Genovia, and why he's a synth pop fan for life. Paul Louis Lessard currently plays King George III on Hamilton's Philip Tour and this week they tell us about how playing King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar helped them get there. Paul was admittedly one of those people who had an "aversion" to Hamilton back in the 2016 era, but eventually he was listening to (and falling in love with) select songs like "Take a Break" and "Wait For It." But it was "You'll Be Back" that led him to write a Facebook post way back in 2016 letting the world know that one day he will be playing King George III. It didn't hurt that almost all of Paul's King Herod reviews mentioned a KG3 vibe, which Paul made sure casting knew about when he was auditioning for Hamilton almost eight years later in 2023. Paul Louis Lessard (he/they) is currently King George III on Hamilton's Philip Tour and this week is all about authenticity. Starting from a very young age, Paul describes the allure of performing as a siren song that was calling to them, even down to the intoxicating smell and feel of the show programs he'd pore over on the way home. Remember that smell?? And the feeling of staying up late on a school night going to a show?! The best. Early in their career, Paul talks about how they truly felt their queerness was used against them, and once you hear about the shortsighted, close-minded jerks he had to deal with I'm sure you'll agree. After some time traveling the world he came back to New York City with a mantra that changed his life: fuck everyone and everything, I'm showing up authentically 100%." As I wrap up with Jennifer Geller, she talks about starting and managing a thriving business while *also* performing in Hamilton on Broadway. In Jennifer Geller's second episode, she talks about how heartbroken she was not to book Hamilton Chicago after being personally invited to audition by Andy Blankenbuehler. But when she eventually booked Hamilton's first national tour, Andy reminded her it was all about trusting the process. Easier said than done, but a good lesson nonetheless. Jennifer also goes in on how the the ensemble is an extension of Burr's mind, especially during "The Room Where it Happens" (it's fascinating, you have to hear this) and explains how Hamilton's purposeful choreography and storytelling spoils performers forever. Plus, we talk about Hamilton coming back to Broadway after the COVID-19 lockdown and how we both used to be insufferable nightmares who didn't have any work/life balance but we've both moved on from that nonsense and have changed for the better (thank god). Shonica Gooden (Hamilton Broadway's Woman 4) first joined Hamilton in December of 2015, just in time for the full on Hamilton madness with the original cast, including that legendary trip to the White House. Shonica reflects on over ten years of Hamilton, explaining how her life experiences (being a mother, experiencing a pandemic, the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement) have changed her approach to the show. But guess what? She still looooooves it. She loves and respects all the time it took to really get it right and as Shonica says, "they didn't microwave it." Shonica also talks about being a founding member and the Executive Artistic Director of the Black Artists Dance Collective, an alliance of Black dance professionals who vow to uplift, support, inspire, and empower Atlanta’s Black dance community. Shonica Gooden (Hamilton Broadway's Woman 4) was born and raised in Atlanta, where she focused on what was supposed to be a thriving modern dance career. She had zero interest in musical theatre and didn't see herself as a triple threat. Luckily, her teachers at DanceMakers of Atlanta did see her as a triple threat and strongly encouraged Shonica to audition for Bring It On. This led to callbacks and work sessions with Alex Lacamoire and Andy Blankenbuehler, and it would prove to be the start of a beautiful friendship with The Cabinet. Shonica had the incredibly unique experience working with Andy Blankenbuehler in the pre-production phase of Hamilton, and she was one of the dancers Andy called to help him visualize what would end up being the choreography in the show. It was a shock to everyone (especially Andy) when Shonica turned down the opportunity to be a swing when Hamilton was transferring to Broadway. As Shonica explains, it was a terrifying decision that ended up being the right move. Plus, Shonica talks about being a mother on Broadway including not feeling guilty about having a child, what needs to change in the industry, refusing to make excuses, and teaching her son that being busy is normal because she's not giving up her career anytime soon. This week wraps up my series with John Devereaux, a standby on Hamilton's Philip Tour covering George Washington, King George III, Mulligan/Madison, and Lafayette/Jefferson. Remember when John told the story about booking Hamilton and almost passing on it? Yeah well that almost didn't even happen because this week you'll hear about how John actually did pass on the first audition! Yep, he just wasn't that into Hamilton. But then he heard Wait For It and couldn't stop crying and decided he absolutely had to be in the show. John walks us through his Hamilton process while also giving excellent advice (spoiler: whatever it is, take the note). He's also taking questions from the Patreon Peeps where you'll learn about "the multiverse of KGIIIs" and why he wants to sit down for a hard hitting interview with the real Aaron Burr. John Devereaux (standby on Hamilton's Philip Tour) is back for round two and this episode is all about authenticity and being as present as possible. For John, he never wants to "lose his elasticity", so a lot of his work as an actor has to do with constantly learning and being curious about himself and the world around him. This week, John shares stories about what he describes as "being tested" in auditions (...or was it just racism? You be the judge) and discusses his fantastic experience on the Rent 20th Anniversary Tour. From the importance of integrity to the true meaning of legacy to the "do no harm, take no shit" way of life, John is laying it all on the table. John Devereaux is currently on Hamilton's Philip Tour covering George Washington, King George III, Mulligan/Madison, and Lafayette/Jefferson. He grew up in Houston, Texas, loving sports and wanting to eventually practice medicine. In high school, he did some friends a favor by stepping in as a last minute replacement but this does NOT mean he was a theatre kid, okay?! In fact, he went out of his way to make sure his bio in the program said that acting was just a hobby and he was *really* an athlete who was going to be a doctor. But we know how this story goes, right? He stepped on that stage and everything changed. Not overnight, of course. This week John talks about realizing he was too squeamish to be a doctor while in the middle of rotations, why a Monopoly reference made him ditch his business major, the beauty of being present on stage, and auditioning for Friday Night Lights. In her third and final episode, Sabrina Imamura ties up how she landed on the Hamilton's Philip Tour after starting with the original Angelica Tour in 2017 and making stops on Broadway (twice), the Eliza Tour (the Los Angeles sit down), and the And Peggy Tour (which kicked off in Puerto Rico). Sabrina explains the importance of gigs that feed you creatively and why doing a show for the sake of it isn't really what she's about. You know what she *is* about, though? More stories about Asian people that don't revolve around war or politics or the fetishization of Asian women and people. Sabrina Imamura is back for round two and she's very candidly talking about her experience with anxiety, including having daily panic attacks on stage while performing in Hamilton on Broadway. Sabrina covers it all: what sparked the anxiety, how it attached itself to Hamilton and performing in general, the weight of keeping it all a secret, and how being open about everything led her down a much safer path. The bottom line is that no one has any idea what they're doing and we're all just trying to figure it out. Sabrina Imamura has been a swing with Hamilton since 2017 starting with the original Angelica Tour and including stops on Broadway (twice), the Eliza Tour (the Los Angeles sit down), the And Peggy Tour (which kicked off in Puerto Rico), and is currently on the Philip Tour. Sabrina started dancing and playing piano at three years old, with ballet being her first love and main focus. After a lot of success in the world of contemporary ballet and concert dancing, she graduated from the University of Michigan and began auditioning in New York City. Soon after, agents started sending her out for musical theatre. She didn't have a book, she'd never taken a voice lesson, and other than absolutely loving Phantom of the Opera, Sabrina had no *actual* musical theatre experience. Do you think that stopped Sabrina? ABSOLUTELY NOT. She grabbed her "Think of Me" sheet music, used her extensive piano skills to help her rehearse the vocals, harnessed what she called "fake confidence", and she walked into those audition rooms ready to go. Most of the time, Sabrina was called in for what she calls "Asian specific" shows and roles. That changed when Hamilton came along in 2016, which was also the first audition room where Sabrina got the information she was craving: the intention behind the movement, the story, not just the what but the why. Today I'm wrapping up with Terrance Martin, the dance captain and a swing currently on Hamilton's Philip Tour (and previously all over the world). This week, Terrance talks about his international experiences with Hamilton, including how exciting it was building up that tour with alums from every production of Hamilton worldwide. He also walks us through the role of a Dance Captain and how the way he focuses on the intentions of each character really informs the way he communicates. He has to know the intricacies of every role while being super tuned into his cast mates so he can give both the show and his fellow actors exactly what they need to kill it on stage. And on the topic of legacy (because it always comes back to that, doesn't it?), Terrance talks about being a founding member of the Black Artist Dance Collective, a program focused on supporting and connecting Black artists and building the community he never had. /// Terrance Martin on Instagram Terrance Martin VO on Instagram Terrance's Website The Black Artists Dance Collective: https://www.tbadcollective.org/ https://www.instagram.com/tbadcollective/?hl=en /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…
Terrance Martin is back for round two and while everyone loves feeling seen, is there anything better than seeing your friend absolutely killing it at something they love and you get to hype them up and tell everyone how amazing they are? The answer is no. Terrance's journey to traveling the world as a Hamilton Swing and Dance Captain spans six years and in hearing him talk about his experiences and his friendships surrounding this show, you can tell that the invisible string theory is hard at work in his world. This week Terrance talks about a life-changing Season of Yes but it took a lot of no's to get there and a lot of them were from Terrance! After a long look at his career and asking himself some very hard questions about how and why he wanted to be a performer in the first place, Terrance called his bestie and announced his retirement. His plan was to "bow out gracefully,” commit to teaching the next generation, and embark on his Season of Yes. Terrance Martin is a multi-faceted performer and activist, a founding member of the Black Artists Dance Collective, and one of the best conversationalists on the planet. Terrance is currently the dance captain and a swing on the Philip Tour, and previously has been all over the world with Hamilton. It took him six years of auditioning to get there but that's actually great because he got a ton of experience performing in other great shows during that time. We talk a lot about redefining success, and that was all a major part of it. His approach to being a swing is so fun because Terrance has detailed backstories for every role on that stage and gives us a fascinating deep dive on why the psyche of these characters is so important. Shout out to his fellow Capricorns! This week, Terrance also talks about growing up an introvert who wanted to perform while having to learn to fight for his existence as a "Black feminine gay man in the red South." Terrance explains that his voice, his walk, his *light* didn't allow him to hide, which at the time manifested in anger and trauma but has now led him to a place of growth and strength. None of this is easy by the way, especially when you learn what Terrance went through. Note: I jump in to remind you before it happens, but towards the end of this episode Terrance tells a traumatic story involving racism, bullying, homophobia, threats of violence, and the description of an incident that took place in a pool that includes a severe injury to Terrance's ear. /// Terrance Martin on Instagram Terrance Martin VO on Instagram Terrance's Website The Black Artists Dance Collective: https://www.tbadcollective.org/ https://www.instagram.com/tbadcollective/?hl=en /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…

Born and raised in New Jersey, Nicole has always had a balance between being academic and being creative; she grew up as a competition dancer, went to Drexel University on a dance scholarship, and graduated with a degree in marketing and retail merchandising. Hamilton was Nicole's first official gig right out of college and after five years of the bullet, performing over 1500 shows in over 50 cities, Nicole started to look towards the future. She jumped at the opportunity to make a change and take on more responsibility and with her post-Hamilton life in mind, she made the decision to turn her world upside down and become a swing. Jisel grew up watching old musicals and performing as a kid but then she hit college where they do the ridiculous thing of making teenagers pick a major?! Insanity! While Jisel loved performing, she also wanted a job where she could make a living, so she took her passion for American Sign Language and studied speech pathology and speech therapy. During her second semester, she was cast as Daniela in In the Heights and everything changed. She switched schools, focused on performing, and her career has been thriving since she graduated. Jisel speaks very candidly about her initial apprehension towards Hamilton, her unexpected casting as a standby for the Schuyler sisters, and how being on tour as an offstage cover can actually be very lonely, especially for a self described "extroverted extrovert." /// Jisel's Linktree Mixed in the Arts Podcast Mixed in the Arts on Patreon /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…
Eddie Ortega (Hercules Mulligan and James Madison on Hamilton’s Philip Tour) is back for round two and this week Eddie talks connecting to his roots in the Dominican Republic, recounts his awesome time in Chicago (singing at the National Anthem and going to restaurants in The Bear), and we do a deep dive into our astrological charts. Plus, Eddie takes questions from the Patreon Peeps including his fellow cast member Lucas Babcock, who asks him to breakdown his process for "We Know." Eddie Ortega (Hercules Mulligan and James Madison on Hamilton’s Philip Tour) is here to tell you what can happen if you work hard, *really* love what you do, and stay focused. In his first episode, Eddie talks about growing up in Florida and discovering his love of theater as a teenager. After being rejected from Florida State University, he did everything he could to get accepted and start building his career. From making his Dominican-born parents proud with his award-winning performance in Usnavi in In the Heights to seeing the world performing on a cruise ship, all roads seemed to lead to Hamilton. Lucas Babcock (John Laurens and Philip Hamilton on Hamilton's Philip tour) is back to talk about how booking Hamilton right out of school "was like jumping on a moving train." This week, Lucas dives into his favorite Hamilton moments and takes questions from the Patreon Peeps where he talks about his favorite hidden gems from his time traveling the world and why he absolutely loves going to Ren Faires. /// Lucas on Instagram Lucas's Website Elizabeth Babcock: Lucas's mother, founding director of the upcoming Smithsonian Women's Natural History Museum, and living legend. /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…
Lucas Babcock plays John Laurens and Philip Hamilton on Hamilton's Philip tour and in his first episode he talks about growing up playing sports, his strong interest in sociology and political science, and navigating the musical theatre world as the new kid who knew more about baseball than Sondheim. While Lucas auditioned for Hamilton (the first musical he'd ever listened to, by the way), he was able to see the world as a cruise performer and felt seen doing a production of Next to Normal that mirrored his own life in many ways.
As I wrap up with Meghan Faddis (Hamilton Chicago and touring companies) you're getting some hot takes on beloved musicals, you'll learn about how she almost ended up a professional soccer player, there's lots of love for her dog Spencer, and you'll hear the story of how "Expert Hula Hooper" ended up on her resume. Plus, Meghan loves and knows the lyrics to a ton of early 2000s hip hop and talks about how inspired she is by the amazing women putting out her new favorite music with super honest lyrics. Meghan Faddis (Hamilton Chicago and touring companies) continues to speak about her experience in the entertainment industry as a whole, especially as a woman: from navigating internalized standards and pressures, to realizing that "No." is a complete sentence, and finally deleting all of those damn exclamation points in emails #IYKYK. And while Meghan doesn't have all the answers, talking about mental health in the theatre world is a super important step towards making the very necessary changes. After spending four wonderful and fulfilling years with Hamilton, Meghan made the careful decision to leave the show and focus on being home to reset, regroup, and branch out creatively. It was time to take everything she learned from Hamilton and apply it to different art forms and different ventures. Meghan has fallen in love with working with the new generation of artists by way of dance competition judging and I promise you the conversation is super fun, educational (at least for me!), and really inspiring! You might have seen one of Meghan's viral judging videos on TikTok, and she breaks down the whole experience. We're finally getting the new wave of teachers the kids deserve! Meghan Faddis spent four years as swing in Hamilton, starting in Chicago and then moving to the touring companies. While she's been dancing professionally since she was six years old, Hamilton was her first time swinging and to say she learned a lot is quite an understatement. Hamilton has her favorite style of dance and she was (and still is) thrilled to be part of the show. This week Meghan talks about the balance of looking at Hamilton's intricate choreography as a puzzle, focusing on both the big picture and the endless details. Meghan's first episode kicks off a very real and necessary conversation about the overwhelming work of a swing as she talks about learning Woman 1 in real time in the middle of a performance (yep, read that again), the time she did the show while suffering from food poisoning, the lack of mental health resources in the theatre industry, and the importance of being your own advocate. Yes, swings are seen as superheroes but they are also humans, which begs the question: just because someone *can*, does it mean they *should?* Meghan on Instagram Meghan on TikTok Meghan's Website /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…
Booking Hamilton made Nick Sanchez (Hamilton's Philip Tour) feel kind of crazy (I get it) but being on that stage finally served as a release from the negative voices of the haters that had been haunting him since college. This week, he talks about his Hamilton experience and why it changed the trajectory of what he felt he was capable of doing. The beauty of Nick's story is that it proves that as cheesy as it sounds, you really can do whatever you want to do in your life and you don't have to be trapped in just one thing. For example, while Nick is on tour he is also in the process of renovating a house that has been abandoned for 30 years! Plus, Nick takes questions from the Patreon Peeps and offers to be your tour guide in Puerto Rico. This week, Nick Sanchez (Hamilton's Philip Company) talks about how Hamilton has reached the point that superfans of the show are auditioning for and booking it, which is what happened to him with Rent. From Rent, Nick joined Tarzan on Broadway and then went on tour with Mary Poppins (and we can't forget his time with But I'm a Cheerleader and Altar Boyz). At 30 years old, Nick decided he'd reached the top of his career and left show business. After flirting with the idea of being on Masterchef (!!!), Nick tackled the world of interior design in New York City. But the stage kept calling him, and after a trip to Margaritaville on Broadway and a stop uptown (of course In the Heights is involved!), Nick finds himself auditioning for Hamilton. Nick on Instagram /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…
Nick Sanchez has been Man 5 on Hamilton's Philip Tour for almost six years. When not performing as Man 5 he also covers Alexander Hamilton, Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, Charles Lee, James Reynolds, and more. Almost on a whim, Nick auditioned for Rent on Broadway at 15-years-old. Amazingly, that led to a series of auditions and callbacks that would culminate in Nick making his Broadway debut in Rent in 2004. Since then, Nick has had a full career swinging and understudying on Broadway and on tour around the country. He also stepped away from the industry for a few years to be an interior designer but we'll get to that later. This week, Nick tells his Rent story as we commiserate about the loss of The Life Cafe (RIP), bond over a shared love of doo-wop tunes, and vent our mutual disdain of adults in education telling teenagers what they definitively can and cannot do in their careers. Get out of their way and let them learn and thrive, you jerks! Nick on Instagram /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps…
As we wrap up our chat, Cherry Torres (currently Hamilton on Broadway, previously the Angelica Tour) drops the curly hair routine, tells me about her passion for teaching, explains why she loves Eliza's "Lord of the Rings" robe so much, and she's taking questions from the Patreon Peeps (many of whom have seen her in the show)! Plus, Cherry talks about the unforgettable experience starring in Evita in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Cherry Torres (currently Hamilton on Broadway, previously the Angelica Tour) is back for round two! After four years traveling the world on cruise ships, Cherry was ready to plant her roots and move her career to dry land. Rock of Ages led to Cherry's Hamilton process, which continued as she performed her dream role of Nina in In the Heights and booking a gig for Disney. From auditioning for Hamilton Puerto Rico to eventually going on tour with the show, Cherry explains how her life led her to an absolute rollercoaster of emotions: pure elation, an unbelievable amount of grief, completely understandable anger, and what it's like to work through it all. Cherry Torres is currently an ensemble member in the Broadway production of Hamilton covering all three Schuyler Sisters, and was previously on the Angelica Tour. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Cherry discovered her love of performing when she moved to Florida at 12 years old. From there, she went to the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston and then traveled the world performing on cruise ships. We talk about all of that in this episode but we also take a few detours to discuss Nick at Nite reruns from our childhoods, our gratitude for being technologically savvy millennials while reminiscing about what it was like to physically hang up a phone, and compare and contrast our neurodivergent tendencies. Welcome back to another episode of the neurospicy hour, my friends! Jordan Frazier (Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton's West End production) is back to infuse equal parts energy and love into your podcast feed. This week, Jordan talks about sailing off to London and navigating auditions, her visa situation, and the eventual COVID lockdown. She will eventually find an apartment she loves (hello Brixton!) and start her Hamilton adventure, where she was originally Woman 5 (covering Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy Schuyler) and after a few years of being a cover, a standby, and leaving the show three times, she lands Angelica Schuyler full time. Jordan also talks about her two vocal cord injuries including how she came back stronger than ever, and why vocal health should be taught in schools all over the world. Plus, Jordan takes questions from the Patreon Peeps and tells us the causes she's passionate about, the things she's hyperfocusing on at the moment, the importance of humility on stage, the difference between loving and living love, and why she wants everyone to have their own vine and fig tree. Hailing from North Carolina, Jordan Frazier is currently Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton's West End company. Jordan always knew she was an artist and a creator and grew up leaning into all kinds of interests as they presented themselves to her: music production, acting, dancing, songwriting, filmmaking, etc. In this episode, Jordan describes her frustrating experience at college, including her journey as a Black woman in the entertainment industry and her distinct ability to fit a mold... and then shatter it. Jordan's life is filled with that she calls "Divine redirection." After temporarily moving on from musical theater she spent some time studying Communications, making and starring in over a dozen short films, and working as a production assistant on The Walking Dead. Her journey to London starts on a cruise ship, where she had been working several contracts as the lead singer of the house band. After being introduced to UK-based representation by a friend, Jordan is off to London where everything starts falling into place. Alexis Hasbrouck (a swing on the North American tour of Hamilton) is back for round two! This week Alexis talks about joining Hamilton's well established tour which was equal parts incredible and terrifying, and explains how her brain processes all the details a swing needs to know. You'll also hear about the once in a lifetime trip she and some casemates took to Alaska where they saw all kinds of wildlife, kayaked by a glacier in a torrential downpour, and most importantly THEY WENT DOGSLEDDING! Alexis Hasbrouck is currently a swing on the North American tour of Hamilton and my guest for the next two episodes! Alexis has been dancing since she was three years old, studying absolutely everything: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, pointe, musical theatre dance, contemporary, lyrical, you name it. This week, Alexis talks about the musical theatre program at Rider University (which she loved!) and taking a year off to do Cats on the Royal Caribbean Oasis cruise ship. By the time Alexis was ready to finish her last semester, COVID hit and her whole college experience moved online. While Alexis waited for the entertainment industry to open back up she found her second true love: teaching elementary school special education, which she hopes to return to someday. After leaving what Alexis describes as a very toxic atmosphere doing Cats, she joined the first national tour of Moulin Rouge and had an incredible time. She was so thrilled to be a part of it, she learned everything she could, and she never took a second of it for granted. All the while, Hamilton kept calling...
