Since the release of the song "Lit Up" in 1999, Buckcherry's no frills rock and roll has been a staple on rock radio and in the live concert circuit. It was few years later though that the song "Crazy Bitch" was released making Buckcherry a plantium selling rock band and a household name. Before the release of their self-titled debut in early 2020, weeks before the pandemic struck, the band BRKN Love had been on the road doing what all new bands do. They were paying their dues and building a fan base, which included me. Since then, they have put out two more albums, each one doing just a bit better than the previous. Justin Benlolo is the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the band. In fact, BRKN Love has been Justin's baby all along. They are a swinging rock and roll band and one that's worth a listen. Over the past decade, it's been the band Badflower to take a torch once carried by bands like My Chemical Romance and carry it into the realms of modern rock. Lead singer Josh Katz wears his heart on his sleeve with lyrics that resonate with anyone, no matter what they might be going through. After 11 studio albums, you might think a band is starting to get meh, but that is definitely not the case with Architects. Their latest offering, The Sky, The Earth & All Between, sees the band exploring their sound in a way that just works. Produced by former Bring Me The Horizon keyboardist and songwriter Jordan Fish, the sounds are all there. From the pummelling to the melodic, this band isn't showing any signs of slowing down. The band Dinosaur Pile-Up just announced a new album and released two new songs. After kicking down the door of mainstream rock with the 2019 album Celebrity Mansions, we haven't really heard much from the band. There's a good reason for that, lead singer Matt Bigland was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a digestive disease that wrecks your insides. Something I know a lot about as 15 years ago I found out that I had celiac disease, both are autoimmune diseases with similar outcomes, and they both suck. Matt ended up in the hospital for a bit, so his health needed to come first. Now though, he's better than ever, and the band is firing on all cylinders. Two new songs are out called "My Way and 'Bout to Lose It." They come off a new album called I've Felt Better, due out in August of 2025. You may know Shimone Moore as the lead singer of Sick Puppies during the Sick Puppies incredibly successful run in the early 2010s. After a falling out between him and Sick Puppies bassist Emma Anzai he left the band almost a decade ago and has since decided to go solo under jus the name Shim. After a solo album in 2018 and a couple of singles since, he and his bassist / musical soulmate Jayme Lewis are at again, and have a lot planned for the new year. Myles Kennedy is the lead singer of the band Alter Bridge, he is also the lead singer of Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. The Ghost Inside is a SoCal hardcore band who amassed a following doing what any great band does, tour your asses off. In 2015 that was put on hold when the band was involved in a bus accident that caused serious injuries for some in the band and killed their bus driver. Then in 2020, they were back after years of healing only to be stuck because of the Pandemic. You know Kerry King as the legendary guitarist of what some would say are the ultimate heavy metal band, Slayer. Well a few years ago Slayer announced their retirement, they were hanging up the riffs for good. So Kerry being Kerry King took some songs he had already been working on and decided to put out a solo record. He's got a great lineup of musicians with him including Paul Bostaph of Slayer, Phil Demmel formerly of Machine Head, Kyle Sanders from Hellyeah and singing is Mark Osegueda of Death Angel. That reads like a supergroup of metal lineup, but here they are playing with Kerry King. The finished product is the album From Hell I Rise due out on May 17th. Kerry sits down with me to fill us in on how this project came out of the ashes of Slayer. I should also mention that Slayer did reunite and are playing some select festivals later this year, but how that happened will have to be saved for another conversation down the line.…
There are few voices more recognizable than that of Sebastian Bach. Back in the day Skid Row was one of the biggest bands in the world, and it's been a long time since we've heard Bach music that has the same potential as those first two Skid Row records, but here in 2024, that narrative can be changed. His new solo album called Child Within the Man comes out on May 10th and there's a great reason to be excited about it, the songs absolutely kick ass! Sebastian may have never sounded this good. You would know Dicky Barrett as the lead singer and founding member of the legendary Ska-Punk band The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, but now he and some friends got together to form this "90s punk rock supergroup" called The Defiant. The Defiant is Pete Parada on drums (The Offspring), Greg Camp on guitar (Smash Mouth), Johnny Rioux on bass (Street Dogs), Joey La Rocca on guitar and keys (The Briggs), with Dicky Barrett front and center (The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.) Together the five create a rock n roll pedigree that culminates into a riot of melodic punk. At the time of this conversation (last week) Daughtry's latest single and by far his heaviest song to date, was sitting at number 2 on the rock charts. As of the posting of this conversation, that song has officially gone number one and as we found out in this conversation, it sure means a lot to him to have a number-one ROCK song. As you may or may not know Chris's story starts with a finalist finish on American Idol almost 20 years ago, and for a while he wasn't doing the type of music that was close to his heart. The name (hed) PE is as synonymous with the nu-metal genre as Korn is. While they may not have gotten to the same popularity heights (hed) PE and their style of music embodies everything we love about the genre.
