The Village Church is built on the foundation of valuing people, celebrating life together, and learning principles that will enable us to face life’s challenges. Our vision is to be a community of faith that is dedicated to knowing Jesus Christ, serving others in His name and making Him known throughout our home community. Our church exists beyond the walls of just Sunday morning. We’re glad to be investing in Thorold and surrounding communities! We want to make a good city great!

The gospel had radically transformed the city of Ephesus 15 years prior, but Paul is concerned that the believers’ are again being lulled into sleep by its wickedness. By deceit, rootlessness, the anxieties of the world, and the deception of worldly riches, we too begin to distance ourselves from God, gradually embracing the way of the world. The c…

We are in a series called Radical Discipleship: every single topic in this series is prefigured by “Radical” because we are talking about things that are extreme, cutting to the root or base of a matter. What are the basics, the essence, of following Jesus and how can we do this in the most extreme way possible? Luke 9:23: “And he said to all, “If …

After Jesus rose, the disciples asked if it was now time for Him to restore the kingdom to Israel. His response was one of protection and calling. He reminded them that only the Father knows the times, and called them to go into their neighborhoods, surrounding cities, and the nations and bear witness to what they had seen. By the power of the Spir…

Ask this question: Is it worth it? (There is a Worth It TV show where they talk about items, tacos for example, at different price points and then they decide which one is truly worth it.) We need to ask “Is it really worth it to deny myself and take up my cross”? Is this worth it? We need to know what Jesus is offering because there is no reason t…

John’s vision from God in Revelation 21 gives us a picture of the new heavens and earth—all ethnicities bringing what’s good and beautiful about their cultures to live together. As we exist in the “already but not yet” of this kingdom to come, we learn about other ethnicities and cultures with curiosity, lament what has been broken and twisted by s…

You can be radical for many reasons; radical means either getting down to the core of something or extreme. You can be a radical (extreme) fan of a football team. Discipleship means following Jesus and it can be extreme as Jesus said “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Your agenda is s…

In Genesis, God makes man in His own image and places a unique, spiritual mantle on all humans—regardless of status, ability, race, or gender. As we become the kinds of people God is making us into, we are to embrace our role as salt and light pushing back against the darkness and engaging the hopeless. In one of the few passages that talks about Jesus as a child, we learn that he grew in “wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man”. As Jesus was growing and maturing into a new phase in his life, he matured in four areas - relationally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. As we start a new year we spend a lot of time thinking about the p…

Radical Courage is the first sermon in the Radical Discipleship series. Why radical? In planning for this series of sermons, there was one sermon called radical hospitality and one called radical evangelism and we figured out that everything is radical when you follow Jesus: in fact, Jesus said you have to deny yourself and take up your cross. We c…

The path of life has been laid out by God through His law and made possible through the coming of Jesus. By His grace, we are transformed from one degree of glory to the next and called to the table of His joy to experience pleasures forevermore. Jesus is what you've been looking for. He is a light for revelation. He is what you've been looking for, and he is the thing by which you can see everything else clearly. He reveals things and he is in himself a revelation. He is what you've been looking for all along but perhaps didn't know it. New Year's Day is a day of reflection where we stop a…
