烏克蘭的全歷史最早崛起的羅斯人政權，是維京血統瓦良格人做為上層統治階級統治中下階層羅斯民眾的留里克王朝，留里克第二任大公奧列格南下打下基輔，成為基輔羅斯的創建者，也就是今天我們一般說「基輔羅斯」是「俄羅斯、白俄羅斯、烏克蘭」三國共同始祖的依據。當時的基輔羅斯一度強盛，不但攻滅了統治歐俄地區三百年的突厥可薩汗國，還組織羅斯聯軍遠征拜占庭，逼迫拜占庭簽署城下之盟，重金贖買和平並簽署雙邊貿易協議。只不過接替可薩汗國的另一支突厥佩切涅格汗國不久又擊敗基輔羅斯，殺了奧列格大公，將羅斯人當家做主的心願又壓了回去。基輔羅斯只能繼續在突厥人的統治下作為一個羅斯諸公國的一員存在。今日俄羅斯的真正直系始祖，其實要算是蒙古人統治時期的莫斯科公國。莫斯科在蒙古人西征入侵基輔羅斯的時代，只是羅斯諸公國中的一個小鎮…

倖免蒙古征服的白俄羅斯此外值得一提的是今天屬於「白俄羅斯」的這塊土地，為什麼要以白色的俄羅斯著稱？其實「白俄羅斯」這塊土地原先是屬於基輔羅斯公國的一部份，因此與俄羅斯、烏克蘭等地的斯拉夫人是一樣的起源。只是在十三世紀蒙古征服大軍到來之時，白俄羅斯土地上的羅斯諸公國為對抗蒙古大軍，改與波蘭立陶宛聯邦結合，誓死抵抗野蠻的蒙古騎兵入侵。雖然一度也遭到蒙古大軍入侵劫掠，但立陶宛波蘭聯軍的來到解放了白俄羅斯上的斯拉夫人。因此白俄羅斯的斯拉夫人並沒有受到蒙古人的統治，因此血統上並未融入蒙古與突厥等來自東方蒙古人種的黃種人血脈，因此白俄羅斯的斯拉夫人無論在膚色、髮色、眼球色等都是純種高加索人種，不像今日的俄羅斯人已經混雜太多突厥、蒙古等東方血脈。不過在莫斯科公國崛起，進而升格為俄羅斯沙皇國之後，白俄…
