It’s not uncommon that we find ourselves in situations where our belief systems and our model of the world are put into question. Whether on a personal or a professional level, there are inevitably moments where our beliefs, values, and perspectives on the world differ from those of the people around us. Yet, on the surface, they may seem starkly different; digging deeper can often reveal how similar – and even intertwined – these belief systems truly are.

This week, I discuss the similarities between most spiritual beliefs and how hypnosis practitioners can modify their hypnosis process based on the client’s individual belief systems. I discuss why it’s important for hypnosis professionals to understand their role as a ‘chameleaon’ in the client’s journey to amplify the client’s desires instead of trying to help them adopt your perception, beliefs, and model of the world. I also discuss how every habit – even ‘bad’ – can be perceived as a strength in certain situations and share stories and examples of how I addressed varying spiritual and religious belief systems while working with clients.
