WHAT I'VE LEARNT

Dr Chantel Thornton is a specialist breast and oncoplastic surgeon, specialising in the surgical treatment of breast cancer and preventative breast cancer surgery.

She is passionate about enhancing the patient experience, and has a special interest in breast cancer surgery, which maximises cosmetic results for her patients.

She is also a strong supporter of immediate breast reconstruction after a mastectomy.

Chantel leads the Epworth Hospital multidisciplinary breast cancer team.

She obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours from the University of Tasmania, was awarded eight university prizes and graduated as Dux of her year in 2000.

Chantel is also keenly involved in medical philanthropy and has served on many boards at national and state level and is a wife and mother to a beautiful baby
