John 19:30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
I. For Jesus “It is Finished” showed that…
• He had accomplished all that God had sent him to do.
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. John 17:4
• His suffering was finally over.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, I Peter 3:18
II. For us “It is Finished” shows that…
• Jesus has removed the wall that separated us from God.
With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom Mark 15:37-38
• We can be saved and become a part of God’s family.
who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. Titus 2:14
