Thanksgiving is a time of practicing gratitude for most of us, but do you know why that feels so good?

Aurora J. Miller joins us to talk about the physiological reasons why practicing gratitude is so beneficial for our health; and how it can alleviate stress and even make us smarter!

Aurora is the founder of Systemic Evolutions where she teaches people how to hack their nervous system to reduce anxiety, stress, and overwhelm. She is certified in Interpersonal Neurobiology and coaching, and she struggled with complex PTSD that showed up as depression, anxiety, and chronic stress; and through much research, found ways to help herself and her clients.

Topics:

-Why Aurora was drawn to neuroscience and health

-What is the HPA axis and why it is important

-Why threat of danger can inhibit clear thinking

-The difference between stress and stressor

-How gratitude changes the trajectory of our stress response (and makes you smarter)

-How researchers came to the benefits of gratitude on our physical well being

-Aurora and Pamela share their gratitude practices

-Why keeping it easy can be key to consistent practice

-Hopefulness and gratitude in practice

-Aurora’s favorite nervous system hacks

-Why information overload can make us sick
