Should you think like a gold digger? So we're going to go into this topic a little bit more on this podcast and just to save you a lot of time. The answer is maybe. Maybe a little bit. I wanted to share the story of the time when I lived in Houston, Texas. I lived in this amazing building where a lot of my neighbors turned out to be really high-profile people. So for example, I was neighbors with Capella. I'm not a huge basketball fan, but this is a guy that's like a huge deal on the Rockets.
And even when I met him at the coffee machine, I had no idea who he was. I just knew that he was this tall guy with a Belgian accent and it intrigued me. So I asked my friend, I was like, yeah, we had this tall guy with the Belgian accent and my friend sent me an image back and like I said, this guy and I was like, oh my God, yeah, it's this guy and it turned out to be this guy named Capella that plays on the Houston Rockets. Now, this building does have a lot of high-profile people. So we would have Houston Rockets players, we would have Houston Texas players and a lot of people with a lot of money.
And I when I moved into this building, the only thought process that I had was first this building was two blocks away from my workplace, so I was just trying to look for a very convenient place to live. This building was definitely out of my budget, but I was able to afford the cheapest apartment in one of the most expensive buildings in Houston, Texas. And what I started noticing in this building is that there are actually a lot of women in this building, their beautiful women by the way, but based on what I've learned about their income, I'm always left wondering like how are they affording the apartments here? They don't have very high-paying jobs. Yet it seems like they're shelling out maybe 50, of the salary just to live here.
And what I started noticing is that a lot of the women that lived in that building and you know, I'm not judging them or anything like that, they're playing their own game and that's totally okay. But me as an observer, I'm just observing this stuff and I think it's interesting.
So what I noticed is a lot of women move into that building so they can meet rich men and they can start dating rich men. And this is like a straight-up gold digger move, which I didn't even realize happened. But it got me thinking, the way that these gold diggers think is really interesting. They think about all the different hotspots where rich people are already hanging out.
And if you're thinking about doing business in terms of doing business, you want to be at the same locations, right? Rich people attract rich people, money attracts money. So if you are trying to get more money, then it would behoove you to hang out with people who have money. And this is exactly what these gold diggers are doing in this building. They went to a building where they know that there's a lot of money. And even if they don't have that much wanting to afford an apartment, it's an investment that they're making to be able to expand their networks. And when I say gold digger, you know, it doesn't necessarily mean that these gold diggers um are going after people straight up for their money. They could just be going after people with a high net worth so they can expand their network, right? But at the end of the day, I ain't saying she's a gold digger, but she's definitely not messing with no broke people. This is Robin Copernicus, boom bam. I'm out.
