Dr. Barnard is president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. In 2016, he founded Barnard Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to create a new model that integrates nutrition into conventional medical care. His federally funded diabetes research revolutionized the nutritional approaches to type 2 diabetes. He has written 20 books on nutrition and health. Dr. Bernard's book, Your Body In Balance: The New Science of Foods, Hormones and Health, shares the science behind how many common conditions—like menopausal symptoms, infertility, weight gain, breast and prostate cancers, thyroid problems, and acne—are fueled by hormones that are hidden in or influenced by the foods we eat. “Dr. Barnard walks us through the most common and troublesome ailments which so many of us struggle with: hormone fluctuations, thyroid conditions, and mood disorders—with an eye towards research and solutions based in foods commonly available to us,” says Mayim Bialik, neuroscientist and actor. The book also gives readers practical tips and resources to get started, including answers to frequently asked questions and 65 hormone-balancing recipes developed by Lindsay Nixon
