There is discomfort where you are and where you are going. Resisting it makes it more uncomfortable. Don’t let discomfort get in your way. Don't shy away from it. Accept and allow it, even expect it, so it moves through you more quickly. Use discomfort as a message to be mindful, pause and be present with it, and then move forward with purposeful intention.

We usually have no problem noticing discomfort. It's the judgment of it and resistance to it that causes the problem. The stories we tell ourselves about it also get in the way.

A common response to discomfort is buffering. Buffering is engaging in false pleasures to get temporary relief for discomfort such as Facebook, drinking, shopping, spending money, and consumerism are examples. These activities feel better in the short term but cause discomfort in the long-run and they do not get us to the outcomes, goals, and life experiences we want. Strategies that help us get us to those are being mindful and leaning into the discomfort.

What if you expected, allowed, and accepted discomfort as a part of your life?

How much more energy and time would you have if you did?

What if you leaned into discomfort, rather than resisting it?

What if you created discomfort to move into the life you want?

Can you allow and accept that discomfort is everywhere?

How you experience it and the impact it has on your life is up to you.

If you want to work through your discomfort and use it to help you transform your life into something you truly want, I invite you to join me at an upcoming mindful coaching and yoga retreat. Registration is currently open for August 2021, and March and April 2022. https://www.jessiemahoneymd.com/yoga-retreats
