Dr Seward and Arthur Holmwood are every more concerned about Lucy’s sudden decline in health. When Van Helsing arrives, Lucy is Deathly Pale and hardly able to breath. Van Helsing determines that Lucy will need a blood transfusion, and Arthur steps forward as the best candidate. Van Helsing orders Seward to stay up with Lucy throughout the night to make sure her state does not worsen. In the morning Van Helsing and Seward find that Lucy is very much restored.
The next night however, Seward falls asleep on his night duty and in the morning, Lucy is even Paler than before and unable to move a muscle. Seward this time, give his blood to Lucy, hoping to restore her as Arthur did. In the afternoon, a package from Amsterdam arrives for Dr Van Helsing it contains Garlic flowers, which he instructs Lucy to wear around her neck as he sets them up around the bedroom. After the room is dressed, Seward and Van Helsing leave, certain that Lucy will now be able to sleep soundly.
