Mitte des 19. Jh. müssen die Bedirhanis neu anfangen. Als Herrscher in Bohtan sind sie dem Osmanischen Reich zu mächtig geworden und werden nach Kreta verbannt. Von dort bahnen sich einige Familienmitglieder den Weg zurück in die osmanische Elite, andere in die kurdische Bewegung im 20. Jh. Wie die Bedirhanis ihren Platz in der Geschichte sehen und welches Licht sie auf türkische Erinnerungskultur werfen, erzählt uns Jun.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Henning von der Universität Mainz.
