We all share the experience of feeling worry and fear, but God is with us to take care of us and protect us. It is easy to lose sight of this truth, but the Bible, and especially the Psalms, can remind us. When we read, "The Lord is my light and my salvation," we can be reminded of the gospel that God rescues us from hellish thoughts and feelings and leads us to guiding truth. We are protected during spiritual attacks. Genuine Christianity is one that recognizes the inner work necessary for spiritual growth. Jesus said, "The kingdom of God is within you," (Luke 17:21) and " take up [your] cross daily and follow me" (Luke 9:23). True worship is when we "cease to do evil and learn to do good" (Isaiah 1:16-17), and the meaning of Psalm 27 can give us essential nourishment along the journey.
