July 19, 1848 the Seneca Falls Women’s Convention began. The two day convention was planned by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and local Quaker women, and hoped to give women a voice in home, religion, politics, and education. It was an immense success and is credited as the start of the women's rights movement.
