A lecture delivered by C.H. Spurgeon. Spurgeon originally delivered this lecture ‘to the students of the Pastors' College, Metropolitan Tabernacle, London, England.’ (those in training for ministry). It was recorded for the first of his unfinished books to be published, which Spurgeon had titled ‘The Art of Illustration’.

In this talk Spurgeon speaks with intellectual refinement. To modern ears some of what he says can seem uncharitable and overly critical. His long analyses of other speakers and writers borders on the pedantic. However, it is interesting for us to see just how careful, yet simple, according to Mr Spurgeon, God's servants need to be when delivering the message of the Most High.
