Manage episode 245439878 series 2434472
Today's episode covers some of the basic yet complex dynamics of what makes up the various factors of mental health and the signs of a more severe mental condition. In this conversation with psychiatrist Dr. David Puder we dive into a medical perspective, touching on topics such as severe depression, bipolar, medication, the power of empathy when supporting mental health in the church. Big takeaway: No one is beyond help or recovery when willing to do the healing work!
Dr. Puder went to U.C. Berkeley and majored in Molecular and Cellular Biology while competing on the Cal Rowing Team. After, he went to Loma Linda School of Medicine and subsequently spent a year doing internal medicine, then completed his psychiatry residency at Loma Linda. He joined the faculty of Loma Linda, where he is the medical director of a partial program and intensive outpatient program called “MEND” which supports patients and their families in maintaining or regaining emotional health and balance during the process of a significant medical illness or treatment. Dr. Puder is married with two children and spends most of his free time playing with them or cooking for them.
