Comparison is the thief of joy, -Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt
So why in the hell is comparison the thief of joy?
Face the fact, everyone’s lives are equally fucked up.
Someone was born into what you think is the perfect life.
Why did you start making comparisons in the first place?
Forrest Gump example…
Too stupid to compare himself to others…
too dense to want what he doesn’t have…
Not smart enough to be deceptive….
not aware enough to know that he looked like an ass….
He just lived his life and did what made him happy, along the way he had a great impact on the world and the people around him.
Levels of comparison
Destructive- (shame, guilt), (envy, jealousy), (self-pity, embarrassment)
Neutral- (wonder, amazement,) (curiosity, confusion,) (apathy, indifference)
Creative- (joy, delight,) (happiness, pleasure,) (gratitude, acknowledgement,)
Mix or a combination.
Create your dream life incrementally over time
Don’t let your happiness become a moving target.
One thing for sure is that you will never get bored, because you will always find something that someone else has that you wish you had.
I want what they have, but will I take the struggle and the pain along with it?
Havamal Stanza 75
The fool does not understand
How wealth and success corrupt the mind
One man is rich, one man is poor
Neither is to blame for the other
When is comparison a good thing and a benefit?
When comparing your now to your yesterday.
Turn your anger and envy into action by deciding what it is that you want and taking the steps to get there.

The Author doesn’t distinguish which is better only that they are all blessings.
