Our special guest this episode is legendary photographer Douglas Kirkland. At age 24, he was hired as a staff photographer for Look magazine and became famous for his 1961 photos of Marilyn Monroe. Douglas has photographed some of the most iconic superstars in American popular culture like Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, Andy Warhol and many others.
He also did the photography for some of the greatest films in movie history like ‘The Sound of Music’, Titanic, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and many others.
In this interview we chat about his early start in photography, we bound over him getting his first job in my hometown of Richmond VA, working with Marilyn Monroe, his experience at the Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’ video shoot and a whole lot more.
