As kids, we could envision our ideal life. We had professional and personal goals, and we didn’t feel limited by our imagination.
But when you go into business, things don't necessarily go according to plan. A lot of people go into business because they want to better themselves. At first, we have this huge adrenaline rush. We’re excited to finally be free from a 9-5 job, or we’re simply happy to build something that’s our own.
But what often happens is the business takes over. You begin to work harder and harder to the point that your ideal life starts to take a backseat to the everyday grind. At this point, your professional and personal goals are both being sabotaged.
The problem is, you're scared to stop because the revenue would stop. Before you know it, your business is your boss. The freedom you wanted for yourself escapes you. We need to flip that.
The key is to go back to those days when we were young and could dream. If you own your business, the business should serve you.
