Mother’s Day is next week in the US, and many of us will be gathering with our families to honor and celebrate our moms – or to be celebrated as a mom.

But sometimes our family celebrations can become a trigger-fest!

Because sometimes, no matter how much you love the person you’ve grown into, when you get around your family, suddenly you’re that kid again and you’re getting triggered and you’re spiraling down a rabbit hole into a place you don’t want to be, becoming a person you don’t like to be.

Well, it’s not just you. This is common.

The family unit has a body just like the individual body. Just like the individual body, it has neurological pathways that we, the group consciousness, travel along when we come together. We follow the same old patterns because that’s what is ingrained in the body, in the family unit.

But we can learn to recognize our triggers. Then the next time they come up, we can make a different choice as to which pathway to travel. You can shift the family dynamic by forging new neurological pathways.
