You’ve heard it before: Anger is bad. Anger is one letter away from Danger. Whatever you do, don’t show your anger.
So, if we can’t express it, what are we supposed to do with it? Well, most of us just shove it down and clinch our jaws shut. Then the anger festers inside along with whatever truth we needed to express.
But anger, just like every other emotion, holds information that is vital to understanding ourselves and knowing our core truths. The important thing is to not lash out at others often causing further harm, but to listen inwardly to hear what needs to be expressed.
In many years of working with clients, I’ve found understanding the truth beneath anger to be one of the most self-empowering things we can do. Because anger often stems from a place inside that has felt disempowered, overpowered, powerless over your current circumstances.
