Opening Bible Verse: Mark 4:37-39

In this Bible passage we hear the story of the violent storm at sea. Waves were crashing overboard and the disciples were growing more fearful. What was Jesus doing? He was asleep. How is it possible to sleep during such a violent storm? When Jesus wakes, he simply commands the sea to be still.

Our daily lives often contain one storm or another. Something that may make us fearful or worrisome. While prayer is always the answer to help calm our external or internal storms, there are some practical things we can do to create a restful bedroom in which to retreat at the end of the day.

Eliminate:

All clutter including under the bed

All paperwork including bills

Toys and items that belong elsewhere in the home

TV and electronics

Add:

Comfortable mattress, pillows and bedding

Live plants and fresh flowers

Couple photos or photos of happy times

To Do:

Complete unfinished projects

Make bed daily

Put clothes away daily

Clean off desk at night if there is one in your bedroom

Throw away trash and remove dirty dishes daily

Clean regularly
