What is the Norwegian interest in that region and what it should be? We have a panel made up of three participants: • Jens Frølich Holte - State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and member of the Conservative Party (Høyre). He is responsible for the Norwegian-Latin American relations. Jens has a background in Economic history and has also served as an advisor at the Ministry of Climate and Environment. • Benedicte Bull - Professor of Political Science at the University of Oslo. Her research focuses on Latin American and global political economy and development. Benedicte is the chair of the board of the Nordic Institute for Latin America Studies (NILAS) and former leader of the Norwegian Latin America Research Network (NorLARNet). • Mariano Aguirre Ernst - is an Argentinean-Spaniard journalist and foreign policy analyst. Among his areas of expertise are international conflicts, peacebuilding, humanitarian action, and development. In recent years, Mariano was the Director of the Norwegian Centre for Conflict Resolution (NOREF) and worked as a Senior Peacebuilding Advisor for the United Nations in Colombia. He is currently an associate fellow at Chatham House (London). Moderator: Marcin Sliwa, I am a PhD researcher in Human Geography at the University of Oslo. NALAS is an interdisciplinary professional organization made up of Latin America-researchers and experts based in Norway.
