Today I am so honored to spent time with not only a leader in the field of mindfulness and recovery, but a good friend of mine from my beloved city of Asheville NC.
Eddie LeShure is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT-200), Meditation Teacher, BreathWork Facilitator, Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS), and person in long-term recovery. His primary passion is bringing trauma-sensitive, evidence-based, somatic mindfulness and self-compassion practices to those recovering from substance misuse and eating disorders, individuals experiencing spiritual emergency or wanting to integrate psychedelic experiences, and anyone dealing with the effects of trauma.
Eddie and I discussed just HOW we can transform negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors that often times lead to addiction. Through his personal experiences, that are always our "highest teachers", and the company that Eddie and his partner Margaret Kirschner created, A Mindful Emergence, Eddie is showing all of us the way from anger to forgiveness, from trauma to wholeness, from hate to love, from darkness to light.
There is a mountain of evidence supporting the fact that an ongoing meditation practice has an enormously positive impact on our physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and relational well-being. Doing meditation utilizing mindfulness and self-compassion is much easier than many believe. If we can breathe, we can do it, and Eddie breaks down the “how to” with clear, simple instructions.
