An ayahuasca journey is a bit like traveling in Oz. There are magical times, there are scary times, there are challenges to overcome, and there are blessings bestowed. But in the end, there’s no place like home… Home within oneself, home as oneself.
My journey with Grandmother Ayahuasca is unlike any other. I suspect this is due to the immense trauma in my life, plus the immense effort I put into healing.

I am the queen of integration and the king of persistence.

I wrote a poem about me a few years back, when things were very tough.I remember a line that went something like:

It's no matter when hooves stampede,
and rock walls thunder to the ground,
for my Soul simply won’t quit.

That poem, that belief, got me through hell and back, more than once. And now that I’m home, I feel like I can share in a healthy way because every day is ceremony, a sacred chance to live, as though my last, because today may be my last.
I want to begin with the most important thing I learned from Grandmother Ayahuasca.

Life is ceremony. Every day is precious. Every moment is sacred. Every breath may be my last.

It’s all very simple. And everyone says it all the time. You see? After twelve years and numerous ceremonies, this is the first and most important thing I want to tell you.

Life is ceremony. This moment, right now, this exact moment, is sacred. And it may be your last, or mine. And that’s what makes life so precious. Because we never know when our ceremony will end. But it will end. Just like every ayahuasca ceremony. No matter how difficult, every ceremony has an ending…just like every day has an ending, a sunset.

Life is ceremony. So let’s begin.
