However, when she is purchased by Darius, her worldview is challenged. Instead of being treated as nothing more than a possession that can be treated with cruelty, Darius treats her well but this comes at a cost. Juliet must do whatever she can to help Darius achieve his aspirations and create a better world for humans. Along the way, the lines between a vampire master and his human become blurred. Will Juliet be able to overcome decades of propaganda or has Darius bitten off more than he can chew?
