In this episode we chat to Monica Baraschi who is the Vice President of the Torre Argentina Cat Sanctuary in Rome.
Monica fills us in on her life before she started volunteering in the shelter and how it was that she came to be a volunteer there. She speaks about her role changing over the past years until now she is Vice President.
Monica explains to us what it was like working in the shelter and the challenges she faced during the Covid period when the shelter was running on few volunteers and staff. She explains how she learned a lot during that time about people and the skills they had to offer.
Monica adopted many cats from the shelter and shares the heart-warming but also heart-breaking story of Orsa and Renna. Orsa has since passed away but Renna remains a family member in the Baraschi household along with shelter favourites Fabula and old Grandpa Tichiro who is enjoying his retirement there as the only gentleman of the house and he is a ripe age of 19!
Monica shares the story of her own colony which she looks after a few days a week as well as what its like to be in charge of the laundry for the shelter making sure all the bedding is always clean and fresh for the cats!
