1. [Weekender] Cycling, a pandemic-perfect sport
 On the weekend, serious cyclists with racing bicycles and more casual riders on Seoul Bikes mingle on the cycling lanes alongside the Han River in Seoul which cuts through the city and stretches nearly 500 kilometers.

 The popularity of the two-wheeled vehicle / remains strong / nearly a year into the pandemic in South Korea, with sales of bikes and cycling clothes on online marketplace Gmarket seeing a 9 percent and 12 percent year-on-year jump, respectively, in the first two months of 2021.

 The city’s bike rental service known as Seoul Bikes or “Ttareungyi” also saw a 24 percent year-on-year increase in usage last year/ as they emerged / as a pandemic-safe mobility alternative to public transport, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The service racked up 2.78 million users by the end of last year, which accounts for nearly 1 in 4 residents in the capital.

2. Korean golf courses pricier than ever for investors
 South Korea’s golf courses are becoming more attractive investment destinations than ever, and their transactions are becoming more and more active, as the coronavirus pandemic has increased interest in the sport and investors seek alternative real asset investments, data showed March 7.

 While golf is enjoying a new heyday, financial professionals were divided as to whether the pricing of golf courses has peaked.
“It appears that the price has recently gone up sharply, so we need to see if the demand would continue to remain strong as it is now over the next two or three years,” Lee said.
 But from a dealmaker’s perspective, investors have yet to fully recognize the intrinsic value of the new type of alternative asset. Golf courses are increasingly regarded as assets that have greater financial stability, generate stable income streams in the wake of COVID-19 and bear low costs of maintenance, while its supply is largely stalled by government regulations.
