In this episode (Round 9), the guys discuss the UFC's 2021 return to Fight Island in Abu Dhabi which will be broadcasted on ABC's television network along with ESPN. To kick things off, the former UFC Featherweight Champion of the World, Max Holloway will be taking on the #6 ranked featherweight Calvin Kattar on January 16th. This will be Holloway's first non-title fight in almost five years! The original fight booked for January 20th between Khamzat Chimaev and Leon Edwards has been canceled for a second time due to Chimaev dealing with lung complications following the Corona Virus. To take their main event spot, the submission specialist, Michael Chiesa will be taking on the hard-hitting Neil Magny. We look at this fight from both perspectives, and layout the keys to victory for both fighters. On January 23rd, " The Notorious" Conor Mcgregor will be making his UFC return to fight Dustin "Diamond" Poirier at UFC 257. The two fought back in 2014 with Mcgregor defeating Poirier early in the fight. Since their first meeting, Poirier has won 10 fights and held the interim lightweight belt for some time. Conor on the other hand did the nearly the impossible and became the UFC double-weight champion and even fought Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match back in 2017. Should be a good one! To co-main this card, the former Bellator champion, Michael Chandler will be making his highly anticiapted UFC debut against the #6 ranked Dan Hooker.
Jon Jones has been active on Twitter as of late with his recent sarcastic tweets on the subject of why he vacated the UFC light heavyweight belt. Dillion Danis had some interesting and controversial things to say about Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagumedov in a recent interview with the Nelk Boys. The guys try to make sense of this and give their thoughts on Dillion Danis and Jon Jones. Lastly, Eric gives his thought on Ryan Garcia's recent win over Luke Campbell, and his callout of Gervonta "Tank" Davis after the fight.
