On this episode of the Hockey IQ podcast we sit down with Dwayne Blais. Dwayne is out of London, Ontario and is the owner to TPH Hockey & NSDA. Both are great resource for hockey players of all ages. Dwayne also serves as the skills coach for the Washington Capitals. He's seen just about everything and is a hockey parent as well. His story about his experience as a hockey parent is one to remember. Such as fun and wide ranging conversation. Absolute blast.
A few areas on this episode we discuss:
- The differences between levels and development necessary to raise players from where they are to where they want to be
- Working within the team structure as a skills coach
- What makes the elite players different from anyone else
- Why players that are coddled at an early age struggle later in their careers
- The direction hockey is going
- Keys for working with players of all ages and skills
