One of the worst things that can happen is when a curable cancer case falls through the cracks causing needless pain, suffering, expense, and even premature death. Yet it happens all the time in the US healthcare system, for example when incidental findings discovered during an examination for another reason are not followed up due to labor shortages or confusion about who’s responsible or what the findings mean.
