Libby Znaimer is back today. She is joined by the Zoomer Squad's David Cravit, Vice President of Zoomer Media and Chief Membership Officer at CARP, alongside Bill VanGorder, Interim Chief Chief Policy Officer of CARP and Peter Muggeridge, Senior Editor of Zoomer Magazine. Our panel weighs in on the latest. ------ ACCOUNTANTS ARE CALLING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO EXTEND THE TAX DEADLINE Libby Znaimer is joined by Philip Lawrence, Conservative MP (Northumberland-Peterborough South) and the National Revenue critic, followed by Bruce Ball, Vice President of Taxation at CPA Canada, Hugh Woolley, chartered accountant and tax consultant with Lewis and Company and David Rotfleisch, a tax lawyer with Rotfleisch and Samulovitch P.C. in Toronto. Accountants across the country are calling on the federal government to extend the tax deadline amid a year that was dominated by this unprecedented pandemic and a strain on their workload. Hugh, an accountant in the Vancouver area, has already organized an online petition for "preparers of individual income tax returns",which has garnered over 75,000 signatures at this point in time. He's calling for the extension to be pushed to June 15. So, where do we go from here? Will the federal tax agency finally move the needle as the end of the month fast approaches? Our tax experts weigh in. Listen live, weekdays from noon to 1, on Zoomer Radio!
