This week, following on from our episodes on ‘Suspensions’ we now take a look at your right to be accompanied, which follows on from the drama of being suspended. Being accompanied, is the right you have to bring someone with you, to a formal meeting like a suspension meeting, where formal decisions are going to be made about you or complaints you have made about someone else.
Our take aways for this week are – that, you have a legal right to be accompanied at any meeting where decisions will be taken about conduct or performance, and after making a reasonable request to be accompanied your employer must - not may - but must allow you to be accompanied.
In next week’s episode, we’ll look at how your chosen person to accompany you can help you in your formal meeting.
Until next week
Have a great employment rights week
