Today we have the privilege of talking with first-degree black belt Shane Weinischke. Shane owns Weinishchke Martial Arts in Tallahassee, Flordia.

Shane's story is like many of ours in he uses jiu-jitsu to help him grow in all aspects of his life, both physically and mentally. Shane has been a martial artist since 1991, when he first started taking karate lessons as a kid. After training TKD for years, Shane was exposed to grappling by his instructor and instantly hooked.

Shane's primary goal in our conversation was to show the differences in how training jiu-jitsu today is much different than 20 years ago, for better or worse. His views on competition, training within your academy, and mental training, among everything in this episode, are knowledge practitioners at every level could gain from.
