TRANSCRIPT:
Hello everyone, my name is Jasmine, and you are listening to the English ClAIRSTONE Podcast, where you can build the cornerstone of your English vocabulary! For all our new listeners, welcome to the community, and for our regulars, hello again! Before we start, I will remind you that we upload new episodes twice a week and there are transcripts for each podcast episode in Arabic, English, and Spanish at our website projectclair.org, so go check that out if you want to follow along!

We will be discussing health-related vocabulary words with the nonprofit organization CCAP Across The Map, which focuses on women’s health, for the first two episodes of every month. Today, we will look at the words “diagnosis” and “treatment”.

The noun diagnosis, spelled D-I-A-G-N-O-S-I-S, is the identification or finding of a type of illness or disease. A diagnosis is often made after a doctor listens to a patient’s symptoms and looks at them closely to figure out why the patient is sick. An example of a diagnosis is skin cancer, which is cancer that grows on a person’s skin. An example sentence is, “The doctor said her patient’s diagnosis was skin cancer after listening to the patient’s symptoms and looking at the patient closely.”

The noun treatment, spelled T-R-E-A-T-M-E-N-T, has two definitions. First, it is most often used in a medical context about medical care that is given to a patient for a type of illness. An example of treatment is different medications that are used to treat cancer. Second, treatment can be used to refer to how someone deals with someone or something. An example sentence is that “The workplace requires equal treatment of all its employees.” This means that every employee is viewed and served in the same way.

Well, that is it for today’s episode! This was the Clairstone Podcast and an episode with CCAP Across the Map. For the full transcript for all our episodes, you can click on the info icon on our platform or go to our website projectclair.org. For more information about women’s health, visit the website ccapglobal.org. If you think you are beginning to feel sick, tell a doctor! I hope you will start to use the words and “diagnosis” and “treatment” in your English practice, and I will see you next time! Bye, everyone!
