NO MORE BIRKINS! A series that challenges the status quo. Join Kipenzi Chidinma and Dr. Ally Powell-Hicks for and empowering and impactful conversation. They will share valuable insight from their perspective as women of color on how to overcome the barriers to building a brand.
Kipenzi Chidinma, Founder of luxury handbag collection LINĒIJ™ will share her career journey in the fashion industry. She will discuss the juxtaposition of having a career in corporate America while simultaneously building a luxury brand. You will learn some valuable strategies on what it takes to make it as a woman of color in an industry that often values our money and influence more than our ability to sit at the helm of a luxury design house. Through Kipenzi’s thought leadership you will learn skills such as working with manufacturers, sourcing, branding, and how to navigate a Eurocentric and male-dominated complex space to achieve your goals.
Dr. Ally Powell-Hicks true passion is helping clients, couples, and corporations authentically align with themselves and their brands by using a blend of neuroscience and creativity. She will share with our audience her perspective on ways to combat imposter syndrome when building a brand and entering seemingly unwelcoming spaces in corporate America. She will also give us expert insight on how the societal preoccupation with certain luxury brands relates to self-esteem, status, career advancement, and acceptance in communities of color and how we can overcome these perceived barriers.
