Hosted by Rose McAleese, The Art Teacher podcast is a part exploration and part celebration. It’s a series of honest discussions with artists at various stages of their careers about a wide range of topics. Do you choose your art or does it choose you? What’s the best rent-paying job you ever had? Do you have to suffer and be sad to be an artist? Is it okay to use your personal relationships for material? Rose will explore it all so we can learn why, in spite of the hard work, the dead ends, the self-doubt, the lean times, and even the danger, people keep on doing art.

Rose McAleese started out as a poet, then became a journalist, and now earns her living as a screenwriter. Obviously, she is fatally attracted to jobs that don’t pay. But maybe that’s what makes you an artist: your refusal to stop doing what you love, even when the rent is due.
