Beloved let us continue to glean through the book of Jude looking at the examples of apostasy in the past

Verse 9 is a most noteworthy verse of Scripture. But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.

Moses died on Mt. Nebo in Moab without having entered the Promised Land and was secretly buried in a place not known to man (Deu_34:5-6). It would likely be that this confrontation took place as Michael buried Moses to prevent Satan from using Moses' body for some demonic purpose not stated. Perhaps Satan wanted to use it as an idol, an object of worship for Israel. ( I hope you know saints that we have idols today, they are concealed in plain sights, like the idol of Greed, the idol of Pleasure, the idol of Technology, the idol of Luck, the idol of pride, the idol of self, the idol of education, the idol of race, even religion can become an idol. All of these and many more are American Idols. Listen whatever the reason why Satan wanted Moses's body, God sent Michael, to be certain it was buried).

Lucifer was a creation of God and the highest creature that God created. And then evil was found in him. Don't think that evil means that he went out and stole something. The evil that was in him was that he put his will against the will of God. He was lifted up by pride, and he wanted to become independent of God. He thought he could dethrone God—at least from part of His universe. As far as this world is concerned, God has permitted him to carry on this rebellion, and God has a high and holy purpose in it. But this creature still believes he will be able to take a slice of God's created universe and be the ruler over it. Beloved remember what the words Sovereignty and Providence mean. The sovereignty of God means that God exercises His power (prerogative) to do whatever He pleases with His creation. His providence is the outworking of His eternal plan for mankind and all of His creation, (and that included Satan). Listen providence is God's invisible and mysterious hand at work in the details of history to bring to pass His sovereign will. (God's providence is all through the Bible, but read the Book of Esther to see it in detail.) Beloved God’s providence includes every part of creation, from the inorganic world to individuals and entire nations. In His righteous, wise, and loving providence, our God is bringing to pass His eternal purposes for His glory and our eternal good. (read Pss 22:28; 66:7; 103:19; Rom. 8:28)

“Yet Michael …dare not criticize him or charge him but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Michael didn't curse Satan. He didn't call him a long list of names. I'm sure that many of us would have. But Michael didn't. Do you know why? Michael is an archangel, and all he did was say, “The Lord rebuke you.” He didn't go into a long outburst of labels or condemnation, although he could have. Why? Michael had respect for his office, and his position—Lucifer had been created as the highest creature.

This is a lesson that you and I need to learn. A great many believers have not learned to bow even to God. Listen Pro
