When is less medicine better? Discussion of "slow medicine", with Dr Michael Hochman (Dr Jessica's husband)

Episode 71 features returning guest Dr Michael Hochman---Dr Jessica Hochman's husband. In this episode they talk about the principle of "slow medicine", ie when less medical care may be better for patient. We all agree that medical care is a good thing---but in what situations might less care actually be better care? How do doctors make this determination?
Dr Michael Hochman is a practicing internal medicine physician. He attended Princeton Undergraduate, Harvard Medical School and received his masters in Public Health from UCLA. For many years he wrote a blog called "slow medicine" and he had a podcast titled "healthy skeptic MD"---centered around the theme that in many situations, less medicine may be better medicine. Passionate about evidence based medicine, he is also the creator of a book series "50 studies every doctor should know".
Dr Jessica Hochman is a board certified pediatrician, mom to three children, and she is very passionate about the health and well being of children. Most of her educational videos are targeted towards general pediatric topics and presented in an easy to understand manner.
